I like corn bread, corn muffins, and hot dogs. It just seems like the corn dogs I've eaten taste kinda off to me. Don't know why, they just do (shrug).
2nd interview (face to face) at a Georgia Pacific plant a few towns over for a manufacturing engineer position. They make plastic spoons, forks and knives under the Dixie brand name and generic brand names.
Pretty high volume production place. The plant is about 1/3 mile long and runs 24/7/365. Lots of automation in their process of injection molding and automated packaging. They are looking for someone to help increase their efficiency in their processes and their machines. Unplanned machine down time is an issue and they need to do a better job on scheduling routine maintence, preventive maintence, and mean time to failure so machine down time is as short as possible. Sounds like (historically and currently) they push the machines pretty hard to meet production metrics and don't do a good job on taking time to prevent unplanned down time.
Typical case of "too busy driving to stop and get gas." With that said, it sounds like they recognize this problem and want to change that mindset and hiring in some new blood to get them there.
One interesting tidbit I learned was, for them, virgin resin (plastic) is cheaper than buying recycled in most cases. They do have a product line that uses 100% recycled but they don't make as much money on that than the others that use 100% virgin or a blend of virgin/(in house) recycled.
