Just catching up after a week in Minnesota. The weather was UFFDA both cold and hot but we enjoyed it all. State fair is something. They have some weird foods you wouldn't step in but you just gotta try once. Family reunion etc.

Frank & TLC congrats!!
Happy birthday danm and the kid.
Ya I hate needles too. They usually need multiple jabs to get blood from me. But I started giving years ago and they always need type O neg so at least once a year.

Morning folks. Been on vacation for a week now and still wake up everyday at sane time as normal, 4am. Just can't sleep in anymore.
Having the family over today for my 50th and my wife's 52nd.

Happy birthday to you'ze... my wife is 2 years older than me, too. I've been sleeping better lately. I still wake up early, but my old ass is usually in bed by 9pm. lol

Good Saturday Morning to All! It's 79° on the way to 99° and I have to go to a fun shoot at our local range, som DumDum suckers are going to die today, LOL. Later our neighborhood is having a cookout so I have to be all neighborly and stuff. It's all a good distraction though, my best friend/brother from another Mother passed and I need distraction.

Happy BD to Mr. & Mrs. JGRAZ!

Mine is too, so while I can correctly refer to her as, "my old lady", I do not. LOL

A friend of mine's daughter and granddaughter are flying in from Texas (I think they live in TX) today. They are taking a Logan Express shuttle bus from the Boston airport to Framingham. Maybe a45 min comfy bus ride. Gotta go pick them up in Framingham later today which is about an hour away. I'll be riding shotgun and be the navigator. Trying to drive into Logan airport is a nightmare. If you miss one off ramp or exit, you'll have to do the loop all over again.

Taking a shuttle bus in and out to the burbs for a pickup and drop off is the best way to go. Last time I took it shuttle, it was only like $8 each way. Nice comfy tour type bus. $hit...it cost probably $30 in gas and tolls to get into Logan airport. The layout of the roads to get in and out of there is a nightmare. Pay the $8 and let the tour bus dude or dudette deal with the traffic and tolls.

Weather in northern central MA is gonna be around mid 70's. Some passing thunderstorms may dump some rain on us later. We've had plenty of raid this season so I wouldn't mind if it stopped. Good thing though is you don't have to shovel rain. I hope it gets it out of it's system now and not have a ton of snow this winter.

66, clouds and wind. Might get to 73 today. Early October hitting us early.
Arsenal gave up a goal in under a minute.
Almost ready for a mid morning nap.

Don't even want to fathom what that would be like. There is certainly a fair amount of upside going before your friends. My grandfather and father both told me "all of my friends are dead." I don't want to suffer that same fate.

Distract away, Gene.

Chit sports morning. Mini nap in order.

Upon wake up, I’ll grill some brats and watch Notre Dame play in Ireland. That should brighten the day.

Once in a while if I need her for something I'll just yell out "wench" and tell her to get me something. The stare I usually get is frightening for sure.

Make me dinner wench, or Wench, fetch me a beer.
Rarely does it end well for me

Ditto on the Happy B-Day.

Gene. You can't kill them DumDums. I love DumDum'.! Question that has been in my head for years. The "?" flavor... is that when they were purging the equipment from making root beer to grape or watermelon? Was it just a mix of flavors so they just put a "?" on the wrapper? Or where the ? wrappers put on the ones that fell on the floor and they didn't know what flavor it is. Either way, I still love DumDums. (Mental note: I need to buy some more DumDums).

People passing to the other dimension or another life is hard. I'm at the age that I've had a few elderly friends pass. It hurts but they would not want me to be hurt so I just keep moving. My parents, especially my Dad, is probably a year away from the inevitable. It's gonna suck and I'm not sure how well I'll be able to handle it. Just thinking about it brings me to tears so I too welcome a distraction from those thoughts.

Bright side of life today is I woke up alive. It's 80° F partly sunny here in north central MA. An hour or so I'll be navigator to go pick up my friends kid and grand kid from the airport bus shuttle. About 2 hrs out of my life ain't a big thing. Maybe go to the local fried chicken place for dinner. Duguay's Chicken and Seafood is to die for. I'll order chicken, I don't like seafood.

Smoker has been going since yesterday afternoon. Chicken, Brisket, ribs, and atomic buffalo turds(awesome look them up). Plus all the usual BBQ/cookout fare. And 🍺 lots of 🍺

I took your advice, I looked them up. Holy crap! That's something I've never had and I need to make one of these days. Handful of recipes out there but the basics are the same. It's definitely worth printing out and adding to the recipe book.

Broke 190... 189.8 today. No beer or booze sucks balls. 180 can't get here fast enough.

Haven't had any sweets, either. No ice cream is worse than no booze.

What is the name of the prison camp you are in?

I’ve partied like a rock star.
- a cigar.
- 8 ounces of beer.

To me the mystery flavor is like cotton candy or diluted watermelon. DumDums are made with corn syrup, no bueno for eating, but they shatter nicely when shot and if the wind ws blowing right the dust smells good too.

Thank you, and if he was here, he'd be giving me crap for feeling bad. He was always a, "Don't waste your wishes." kind of guy. He scared most kids but our two boys loved him.

Is there a community center for the cookout or does someone host it?

For the first 10 years of our subdivision’s existence, our street held a potluck. We never did but someone always volunteered to host it. Although we’re the only through street, we put up barriers at both ends to prevent cars from entering. One of our neighbors was a police sargent so never had issues if someone complained. Always had a lotta great food, lotta talk story so we got to know each other better. Kids loved it ‘cause they could play and not worry about a speeding vehicle.

Sounds like a great time!

We have about 300+ houses and a clubhouse, only about 50 people showed up. One guy grilled burgers and hot dogs, another brought pulled pork and everyone was supposed to bring a side or desert. Lucky for us, the sides were all very good, two different variations of slaw with ramen noodles were outstanding, one with almond slices and sunflower seeds and the other with cooked chicken. We brough a carrot cake and a red velvet cake. No one went hungry, certainly not me. Whistle

Hello.

Hot and humid again today, but it will likely rain for the first time in weeks inn just a bit.

Expecting tropical storm gusts in the 30-40 mph range with rain starting Tuesday. It is supposed to hit a few hundred miles northwest of Orlando in the Florida pan-handle. Prayers for those in the danger track/cone.

Swam a few laps today, but it aggravated my ribs and chest. Still got to keep doing it to stay healthy, but I am going less frequently and at reduced frequency and distance about half. It sucks because I know I am in good enough shape and strong enough to swim much longer, further and with more intensity, but it's just not worth it.

Gonna relax and lay about the rest of the afternoon, then watch the last NFL pre-season game tonight.

Hope everyone is having a great day!
