If it was Hurricane Harvey you could use that skateboard as a boat and the umbrella as a sail.

It was before Harvey. I was still in Wyoming when Harvey hit. Been so many, it’s hard to remember. Maybe Ike?

Screw CROS! Mad

Nothing more than a light, steady rain and a bit of wind. I suppose it's better to be freaked out and have nothing happen than to not worry about it and get crushed. Gonz

That is the correct way to play hurricanes.

Leave no loose objects outside. Check for loose fence boards and add a screw or two. Keep trees trimmed and healthy or it will do it for you. Generators are nice. Once a storm hits you won’t find a generator in stock statewide. Know how to use a generator. People get killed by CO emissions. Now there are cool battery systems.

When a hurricane hits everyone gets rain and tropical storm winds can be 100 miles out or more from the center. The actual hurricane force winds often are only 20-30 miles wide. That’s the bad spot and to the east of it based on the rotation will get the storm surge.

The wife and I both drink lots of bottled water daily. So I have always kept a stock of 4 cases on hand. When I get down to 1-2 cases, I go buy 3-4 more... so when these things happen and stores are limiting people to X number of cases... ol' MACS don't give a sh*t.

I've got 5 cases in the garage. Costco had a 5 case limit on Monday. I'm sure Sam's was the same... but I have a membership to both and they are about 2 miles apart. BigGrin

Update from Orlando: Power was out by 6:00pm yesterday and came back on at like 1am while I was asleep. House is cool now and has only 50% RH. Local TV news is telling us to stay off the roads due to secondary tornado risk.

Daughter and fiancé' arrived, thankfully, last night- enroute moving back from Detroit to Boca Raton and are leaving here tomorrow or Friday morning when the movers are anticipated to arrive.

Really want to go out for lunch with my mother, daughter and her fiancé, if anything is open. That will avoid having to have my mother over for dinner tonight as I can only handle her in small doses. She is 85, feisty and can rub me the wrong way at times.

Hopefully, the lap pool will be open later today so I can swim a bit.

Have a great day!

Robert, my mom passed at 74 and she was the same way. But I'd love for the chance to have dinner with her again.

She'll be gone and you'll miss her. Look at it from that perspective.

Good Wednesday Morning to All! It's a rainy 76° and that is supposed to be the high too. Of course 100% humidity.

Had to call State Farm insurance today, a guy I had doing some trimming the other day passed out and had to be sent o the hospital. He called today asking if my homeowner policy covered his medical expenses. They may, it's unclear if the coverage is just for guests but not workers. Brick wall

Robert, I was in the same position as you, but what Macs said is true.

I do and I do my very best, but she'll be too over the top excited this afternoon to see my daughter for the first time in over a year. Overall, she is/has been a MAJOR blessing in my life (despite few scuff ups now and then due to her age)..

Your homeowners won't cover an independent contractor unless you are responsible (at least in part) because he is not your "employee" Nevertheless, most homeowners' policies have like $1-3k in medial benefits for ANYONE hurt on your property- even if you are not at fault. Doesn't he have workers comp?

Thanks Robert! My agent pretty much said the same thing except on the medical coverage, it had to have some factor of liability on my part, however she did recommend putting a claim, which I have done. I do hope it is as you pointed out.

Rain stopped. Wasn't that much because the park by the house didn't have it's normal puddles/small pond. Did see a momma duck with 3 ducklings. Had to tell Tank to "leave it". The ducklings weren't babies, but still incapable of flight so he would have killed 'em.

He was a good boy, he left them alone. Just ran around crazy to get out energy, pooped again and marked a few spots. Mellow

Living similarly. Having five, thirty minute visits is much better than one, two or three hour visit. It is overwhelming, stressful. My sister talks with her on the phone almost every day. Even for her, ten minutes is enough. Fifteen on the top end.

One of the many failings in healthcare is they are hellbent on extending physical life with little or no help on mental side. If the body can go to 110 but the mind is only good for 80, what happens? A long, slow decline. Only senior living care places win.

I’ve seen a couple Medicaid facilities that are sickening. They are dumpsters for the elderly.

My mom is 85, but looks and acts 70 (except for tiring a little bit easier). I talk to her every morning. She drives, exercise five days most weeks, has many, many friends, travels alone easily, goes out several nights a week, does community service, runs the finance committee at her condo, and on, and on, and on.

But, one day it will all come to a halt. She knows it and expects it because she has outlived everyone in her family's generation and a few best friends. She simply believes/accepts she has a had a "great run."

And, I am the single, one of her children designated to honor her written, legal marching-orders to keep her from ever living without pleasure or in substandard conditions (would never allow that to happen) any way) vs. her quality of life at anytime. It might be a discretionary decision, but she has made it clear my siblings are to have zero authority. Only me.

Guess she raised me as someone she could count on...

Don't make a claim unless he starts hounding you or you get a letter from a lawyer. Keep your claims record clean from the ones they pay $0.

Too late, after speaking with an adjuster, the policy does include some no fault/liability medical coverage so they may cover some medical costs for incidents that do not involve liability.

My little town has some free "concerts" and outdoor movie night a couple times in the week (weather depending) at the little park and "amphitheater" just down the block from me. All family oriented stuff. The music shows I can hear a little from the parking lot of the apt complex I'm at right now.

An Elvis impersonator is performing on stage tonight. The show started at 5:00 pm. I'm not an Elvis fan so I didn't go. A friend of mine went and texted me a mini video. Elvis was doing Creedence Clearwater Proud Mary in the video. Wait a second... that's not an Elvis song!

I stand corrected. The Elvis guy was suited up in the white suit thingy... kinda like the video you posted but without the cape. The band behind him was all in red. Not scarlet red but not burgundy, somewhere between. The small park is grass seating so bring a lawn chair or a blanket. If I remember and some benches closer to the "amphitheater" for the handicapped.

One or two food trucks and ice cream trucks show up to sell their goods. There are a couple food trucks that I want to sample. Local folks have given them high reviews. A truck that sells Polish cooked meals, another that sells Portuguese stuff, a third that sells Spanish food. I'm down to try all of those fixins'

Weather permitting they put on some jazz bands, blues bands, country bands top 40 bands and such. No national headline names, just local or regional bands. Something you'd see if you went to bars for local live music.

The little park is also hosts for a farmers market once a week (I think on Tues). There is another in town on Thurs (?) but I haven't been to them. The farmer's market closes around 4:00 and I'm at work. I might have to add it to my list for my son for things to do... hit the local farmer's market and get some fresh produce.

Another local woman uses the park for outdoor yoga classes. I don't think she charges. I don't think the town charges her either. It's public space.

Another local guy brings in a mobile petting zoo for the kids. Mostly lizards and turtles and stuff. Again, I don't think the town charges him for that.

I like my little town (I guess it's technically a city). It's not the best. As like any town we have some things to do to make it better but I think this town is on the upswing to try to become what it was some 20 yrs ago or even better than that.

Not familiar with that Superstition song that you posted.

I do like the Stevie Wonder Superstition song and Stevie Ray Vaughn version of the song the same song.

Stevie Wonder
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7_tmeHCO1IM

Stevie Ray Vaughn
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=opI4NFXmTDY

Sadly I didn't see Stevie Ray Vaughn live. After his last show, he was in a helicopter crash near Madison WI. I was a student there at the time and I kick myself for not seeing his show, I think he was on tour with Eric Clapton at that time.

Happily I saw Stevie Wonder live. This was probably 15 yrs ago at an outdoor venue here in MA.

I would recommend to anyone to buy or download Stevie Wonder's Original Musiquarium. It's a great addition to any collection and it has a ton of great songs on it.

Actually the song is “Suspicion”.

Wrong song aside, although the video shows it’s age (from 1973) but here’s another version of “Superstition” that I like:

https://youtu.be/wwIJk0C0xY0?si=JXmefjVKbg_66Tc_

Always felt SRV modeled his version after BBA’s.

I like this version that you posted too.

On this song, I default to Stevie Wonder since it was the first time I heard it. Back in my college days I listened to a ton of music from popular bands and not so popular bands.
