Bunch of very late 50s and early 60s professional guys from all over Florida and the country. We'll certainly have our fun, but not in the ways or to the extent we used to.

Had a similar frat reunion like 20 years ago. No one changed, except for how they looked. Expect more of the same. Same jokes, same insults, some nicknames, same social issues, etc., etc.

Just like old times...

speaking of suits, button up shirts and long pants, my wife said I should go through our closets and gather up stuff I prolly wont wear, or need, anymore since we're both retired and have very little occasion to wear dressy clothes, especially here in laid back SoCal...she had a few bags of donations gathered up already and wanted me to make a run to the Salvation Army donation truck.

Obediently, I gathered up some things to donate and to clear out some room in the closet, hopefully not to be re-filled. I picked out one plaid sport jacket, one nearly new Adidas pullover rain hoody, one long sleeve pull over Henley sweatshirt, four long sleeve dress shirts, three long sleeve casual shirts, 5 short sleeve button up shirts and 2 Hawaiian short sleeve shirts...hope somebody can use them...

nowadays I'm usually in shorts and T-shirts or tank tops...in the cold season, I wear sweat pants and t-shirts or long sleeved Ts...always wear step in slider around the house or light weight athletic shoes when out and about or walking shoes when out for long walks...

Hadda wear a dress shirt and tie all 4 years of high school then again during my Sony stint in the ‘80s. Only good thing was being able to wear an Aloha shirt (…aka “Hawaiian” shirt…) on Fridays. Biz trips to the Mainland and Japan necessitated sport coats and suits. Glad those days are long gone and the closet has been cleared of all dress shirts, ties and monkey suits.

Pared down the Aloha shirt collection since retiring but most of them now look dated (…fashion-wise…). Might gotta go to the mall and pick up a couple. Should thin out the long pants inventory since I’ve only wore either Khaki or black in 3+ years.

I do not miss that dense California fog, like having two cotton balls taped over your eyes.

That is why Charlie went to Leeds. Problem is, it is even foggier. Nobody has seen him since.

With the fam in Texasfor the weekend for a bar mitzvah.

Traffic here is miserable (outside Austin). I would honestly move somewhere else if i had to deal with this traffic every day.

I don't ask them to, but that is what people have always called me due to the oddity of my last name.
Even some close friends call my wife by her first name; me only by my last name.
Odd. But understandable.

What is your nickname, besides 8-track?

Caught 5 nice sized almaco jack today. Also caught a couple nice red snapper that we can't keep and a trigger fish that was too small to keep.

Cooked some blackened grouper for dinner.

Sure could go for some blackened grouper right about now.

Tight budget cooking is wearing me out. Been doing my best but I think I'm gonna go over. Been here since Monday with a group of 5 and getting a few more every day now cooking for 40. So we've all already had burgers, hot dogs, chicken sammiches, tacos, sloppy Joe's. Now that everyone's here I'm repeating those things.

Ohh.. I haven't had Sloppy Joe's in a long time. I should make some Sloppy stuff or Manwich stuff this weekend. Have to thaw out some beef.

Gonna do some chicken too but I could go for a Sloppy Joe right about now. Do you deliver?

Re: 227 and 228. I would recommend the same. Polly dice up the jalapenos in the mix. Slice of cheese of choice when it's time to put it on the bun. Thinking swiss cheese or cheddar

I have ground cow and various cheeses but I don't have the Sloppy Joe or Manwich mix. Gonna have to add it to the shopping list for tomorrow

Bbq is my go to when I'm cooking at events I drive to. Kinda hard to check a smoker on an airplane. I bought a big knockoff blackstone off Amazon and had it shipped to the track. It'll go in the gridlife semi trailer and be at all events now.

I went through receipts, I'm $36 under my impossibly low budget and have what I need to get to lunch Sunday. Most staff will have cleared out before dinner so that will be leftovers. Might actually finish without blowing the budget. Equipment and consumables cost nearly as much as the food.

Happy Saturday fellas.

No fog this morning so track went hot on time.

I'm gonna need a nap. Didn't stop work until 0130 last night and up at 0430. I had to push breakfast start up to 0500 cause Chicago dudes that haven't been here all week think it's 0700 and start the day.

The one in Tupelo MS was better than the one close to me. It's decent fare, but not fancy by any stretch.

The old chain restaurant called Ground Round would encourage such behavior. I remember going there when I was a kid. We'd put the shells on the table or the basket. When the waitress would come to take our drinks and food order, she would "sweep" the shells off the table or dump the basket basket onto the floor.

I have a sudden craving of salted peanuts in the shell.
