Sushi dinner tonight with the family and one of my best friends from h.s. Going to Katsumidori inside the Prince Waikiki Hotel. It’s a “modern” sushi restaurant with contemporary takes on sushi as well as tablet ordering. Buddy is staying across the street from the Prince and our SIL is gonna drive so a fair amount of beer and sake will be poured while the two OGs talk story.

Haven’t had liver with onions and bacon in at least 30, mebbe even 40 years.

Liver was a regular dinner item when I was growing up. Ketchup and Worcestershire sauce to kinda hide the taste.

Never liked it when I was a kid, but I damn sure do now... my wife marinates it in something.

I was a pretty picky eater growing up, but was forced to eat stuff I didn't like. HATED that. Now I'll eat just about anything that'll make a turd.

My son was also a picky eater but I didn't force him to eat anything. All grown up and eats just about everything, too.

liver was a staple on our dinner table growing up...Mom thought it provided medicinal advantages...prepared it fried with bacon and onions...

wife and kids don't care for it and when I see it on a menu when out at a restaurant, I'll pause and look, then move on.

Liver, nope, didn't like it as a kid, tried it as an adult, and still did not like it, the texture and the taste are not good for me.

I wanted to try liver when I was young. I worked at a butcher shop and took home a big chunk of cow liver. I was absolutely repulsed by the taste and texture.

Tried it again a few years ago with the same result. Liver goes on the danm won't eat it list. I'll try anything and even try it a few times. But liver is just not good.

Happy Saturday fellas

Morning dudes... coffeed up, waiting for the deuce so I can take Tank out to do his.

Organ meats, especially liver, are very nutritious for our bodies.

Tank's food this go-round has chicken livers, gizzards, sweet taters, peas n carrots and white rice. Gets mixed with an equal amount of kibble and he absolutely loves it. Bubba's eating 4 cups a day (2 morning, 2 evening) plus treats and stays at 62 lbs.

He is a bit of a poop factory, though... LOL

Morning folks.

What am I doing up at 4 am? Well, it was almost mandatory if I wanted to get any exercise in during the summer but now I need to set around and drink more coffee waiting for a little light. Need an internal clock reset.

That's always a good idea... especially on a Saturday.

I got beef jerky in the air fryer. Made some Tuesday and it was really good. Marinated it overnight. 6 hours at 150 degrees and I'll check it. Went 8 hours on the last one and it was a little dry.

Went to the Publix butcher and asked for chuck to be cut thin for jerky... he said, nah, man... you need top round cut on #3 and it'll be awesome. He was right.

I need a dehydrator for this. Air fryer won't hold enough. I'm gonna have to do 3 batches and I only got 2 lbs.

Good mornig.
Of to "the world's largest cigar store- Corona in Orlando- to have a nice smoke with my daughter's fiance.

Got an Opus x Angel's Share and an Opus x 20 Years to try out. They were an uber generous gift from Celtic earlier this year. I am going to smoke whichever is milder.

Love me some Opus X. Was telling my HS buddy who lives in Bradenton I need to make that pilgrimage to the Fuente store in Tampa.

May have to let DMV know when I do it so we can meet there for a smokey treat or sumpthin'...

Does that store in Orlando carry plenty of variety, Robert? No reason I couldn't make that 2 hour drive. :)

Since Havanas are so dadgum expensive I ain't bought any. Been buying the NC's I prefer.

Good Saturday Afternoon All! Got up early and went to our local range for a pumpkin "carving" contest. I'm sure I will not be a winner, but that pumpkin looked like it had a green headband so I had to go to work to appropriatly ventilate the pumpkin. Beer

Someone told me long ago..
There's a calm before the storm...
I know, it's been coming for some time..
When it's over, so they say..
It'll rain a sunny day..
I know, shining down like water.. Mellow

78 degrees with partial sunny skies in Jax today...

Can't complain about that. Well... I suppose you could, but 90% of people wouldn't care and the other 10% would be happy you weren't happy.
