Complained to united customer service about the delay, missed connection, and 14 hours till the next flight.

Got a hotel voucher

Wonder if I'll ever see my bag they checked. They say it'll go to monterrey tomorrow. But I had a bag go missing on a non stop direct flight.

Hope the rest of your trip goes well, Danm. Flying used to be fun. Now it's just a giant pain in the ass... which is why I try my best not to do it.

Hotel bar was my only option for food last night. Paid $18 for 5 sad chicken wings. Cheapest thing on the menu.

Sometimes it pays to complain. On out trip to Minnesota as we were boarding about 1/2 way down the isle a stewardess was standing in a row of seats and said to my wife "If you sit in this row I will comp all your drinks". We immediately thought it was the row where whoever sits there needs to be able to open the door in the event of emergency so she said fine. When the stewardess moved we saw a giant guy prolly 400 lbs sitting against the window. The wife was too embarrassed to say hell no at this point so she took the middle seat. She is only about 5'3" and 105 so she only needs 1/2 the seat and the guy was overflowing about 1/2 into her seat.

After we came home she sent a letter to Southwest explaining what had happened. Last week we received a letter form Southwest apologizing. Even though she had not mentioned me they sent us both a voucher for $200 each.

Morning all.

My bag has to pay an "overweight" fee (ok I pay it), why not passengers?

Also, they have those "do your bags fit" things at the gate... How about a "do YOU fit in a seat or do you need two?" thing...

Apparently, no one enforces that size limitation, I always see people dragging multiple huge carry-ons, more like drag-on bags, it's ridiculous.

Beautiful early fall day- 72/52!

Bought a new bed and frame yesterday. Sealy Posturepedic with a remote control electrical adjustable base! Could not believe the price. Ouch, but we had to do it. We bought a new mattress four years ago, but it is so firm that two inches of foam on top doesn't help much. So we needed something else. Hopeful no more shoulder, hip or back pain for either of us when we wake up!

Tile guys are here today to pour concrete into the shower and bathtub floor to bring them level with the bathroom floor. Tomorrow is cement board and hip wall construction. Wednesday and Thursday are planned for tile. Maybe more tile on Friday. If not, grouting and they are done! Might roll over into Saturday, but I don't care. Just want my master shower/bathroom back. If they get done by like 5:45, I'll get to swim.

Nothing else going on besides MNF on the vherf tonight.

Not only does it pay to complain... they have to reimburse you according to the department of transportation. Check it out:

Dammit... can't remember the exact website... but it's out there and has monetary comps based on how bad the delay or cancellation was.

I got 3x $15 gift cards for meals. But the bar couldn't process them i charged it to the room. I went to the front desk to check out they took them to pay room tab. But still. $3+ per chicken wing is insane.

Just arrived at my campsite. Beautiful spot on top of a small mountain.

I got stranded overnight in Gainesville Florida and Indy. First time was due to fog and they gave me nothing. Had to rent a car for another day and get a hotel myself. Had a plane change in Indy landed late missed flight next one to Chicago was like 10 hours later the next morning. I called someone to just get me in Indy.

Must depend on circumstances

Another good day. If I wake up alive every morning, it's a good start of the day.

Dog and Pony show at work this Wed, Guess I'll have to clean up my cubical. From the outside it might look messy with samples and paperwork and stuff but for me it's a controlled chaos. I know were everything is. It's in an organized stack of papers and samples that are organized per project.

Electronic copies are on the server. Personally I like paper copies where I can scribble notes on . Then scan them in and put electronic copies along the way to keep historical of the path we we have taken along the way. Document both successes and failures. Then when done, write up and summarize in a report and place them in the appropriate network folders.

I don't make PhD thesis out of things but document what we do and what we tried. Some might call it anal but I call it being thorough. If 6 months down the road if something crops up and why did we do this rather than this or that, I can look back at the history and have some answers to we did, what we tried, results... when and why. A lot of our processing information is tied up in the brains of the workers - "tribal knowledge." I'd like to capture that tribal knowledge and document it in case they win the lottery and say I quit or if they (God forbid) get hit by a bus, That tribal knowledge will be gone.

Learn from the past to make better decisions today and in the future.

First grocery trip to get the small crew on site through tomorrow. Managed to get breakfast and lunch for about $60. For 12 people. Off to a great start. I need to try to stay under $2500 for the week.

Thursday evening through Sunday night I have to cook for 40 people. Gonna go to Costco after lunch tomorrow and get some things but more to see what's there so I can finalize my menu.

Loving retirement and not having to wear long pants (…and shoes…) on a regular basis. Since the pandemic I believe I’ve worn LPs mebbe 5 times, 3 funerals and 2 wedding receptions. Haven’t worn my jeans since Oct. 2019 when we flew back from Vegas.
