Love me some Opus X. Was telling my HS buddy who lives in Bradenton I need to make that pilgrimage to the Fuente store in Tampa.

May have to let DMV know when I do it so we can meet there for a smokey treat or sumpthin'...

Does that store in Orlando carry plenty of variety, Robert? No reason I couldn't make that 2 hour drive. :)

Since Havanas are so dadgum expensive I ain't bought any. Been buying the NC's I prefer.

You can simply just drive to my house, right off I-4, and I'll drive round-trip to Ybor City! And, you are always welcome to stay the night if you want to.

Best to go very early for a special ""breakfast and an outstanding lunch at one of my favorite cuban restaurants.I certainly am.

There used to be a cigar festival there around this time of year, but I'd rather go sooner.

LMK as soon as you are ready!!!

Cigar Heritage Festival
December 3rd

The Cigar Heritage Festival is a big celebration in Ybor City, a place known as the "cigar capital of the world" back in the early 1900s. We're proud to host the world's largest cigar festival right here, where it all began. We can't wait to see everyone enjoying cigars, delicious food, great music, and meeting fellow cigar lovers from around the world! Come join us in celebrating this special tradition.

Wife and I went real up North. Iron Mountain, Michigan. That is some bleak territory. Very industiral. Logging, cement, and charcoal.

Fun Fact: Iron Mountain's twin city is Kingsford. The same Kingsford where Kingsford Charcoal is fun.

Had a nice lunch with another couple, now back in the bay for some contrasting college football games.

Oregon vs. Washington (aerial)
Iowa vs. Wisconsin (caveman).

Laundry done (but not folded). Lasagna prepped for tomorrow but son doesn't like lasagna so me and the daughter (she likes cooking, inherited it from her Dad and Grandparents) will do up some honey garlic chicken. Probably with some jasmine rice or wild rice or maybe some brown basmati rice. I'll have plenty of leftovers for lunch this week. Probably freeze some of the lasagna in single serving tuperware thingies for grab and go if I forget to pack a lunch.

Did some house cleaning.

Fixed a friends computer. Easy fix, somehow he mistakenly/inadvertently changed the settings on it and it screwed up his monitor settings. I should make me as the administrator on his computer so he can't mistakenly click on something that will need to correct (happens about once a month) but it's not my computer. Plus it gives me a welcome excuse to hang out with him for a couple hours and shoot the $hit.

Pretty much an uneventful day doing domestic stuff but it was fulfilling. With that said, I'm pooped. Time to wind down and chill out.

Bags were packed this morning. Had my carry on and a checked bag. But $50 each way for the checked bag. I don't have $100 worth of stuff in the checked bag so I thinned out my stuff and packed just the carry on. I'll buy sleeping bag and pillow when I get there.

When I fly, typically to visit the family back in WI, I just pack a carry on with couple days of clothes and do laundry at their place. A couple trips back, the carry on had to be checked since the overhead compartments were full. No biggie, But somehow the baggage ended up in Minneapolis. What the F? Went and bought a couple change of clothes until they delivered the carry on.

Buying a couple days of clothes is a story of it's own. It took me 3 times to buy the right size underwear. Either the package label was wrong or I didn't pay attention. Odds are that I didn't pay attention. I bought one package but it turned out to be children's underwear, WTF? these are wrong, Went back and bought another package of 6 and again wrong. Fricking children underwear again..

On the third try I bought adult size underwear. Somewhere in WI there is a dozen children size underwear being used as rags.

Got to my reserved parking 15m early can't go in unless I pay $28 for an extra hour. I'll wait.

On my drive up here I got a text from united my flight got delayed to 730. Had a 1 hour layover in San Francisco so looks like I'm missing that and spending the night at the airport...

Gosh frigging darnit. More inconvenience.

Went to my gate and sat down. Then get a notification that my gate changed. C21 to b17. It's a solid 20 minute brisk walk even with the speed conveyors. At least I had time. Without the delay I'd be cutting it real tight.

Still no update on my layover. Updated landing time is same time as the 2nd planes boarding ends time. No way I'm making that.

This is the part about flying I hate the most. From the time I park my car until i leave in a rental car I'm at the mercy of other people. No control over the situation.

Other than getting to my destination and back home on time, I like nothing about the airline experience.

I also hate flying but we have done three trips this summer including layovers on the trip to Alaska and all have been ON TIME. Just lucky I guess. Still hate all the waiting around. Wifey insists on getting to the airport at least one hour early. Off site parking and shuttles, etc. Anything less than 400-500 miles and I will always drive.

Yeah ded I'll drive if it's under 16 hours/800 miles. I figure flying that distance takes 1.5 hours each way to drive to airport parking, 30 minute shuttle to terminal, an hour for security and finding gate and I like an hour cushion in case things happen. That's 4 hours to get on the plane, 2 hours to fly 800mi and another hour before I leave in the rental car. Bonus for driving I can bring whatever I want and not deal with airports at all makes up the other 8 hours of value.

They just pushed my flight back another 20 minutes. Still got an hour and a half of sitting here waiting.

The lasagna and honey garlic chicken came out well. Leftovers in the fridge. Tomorrow lunch is packed to go. Still have some dishes to do but they can wait until tomorrow. Did a quick trip to Wallyword to pick up some things and harass my son and former coworkers. Some small part of me misses working there (but not really). I made some nice acquaintances both young and old.

Fired up an old Mac that I installed Linux Mint on and it came alive easy. It needed some updates (it's been a few months since it was powered up). Put in my new WiFi password and it found the wireless printers off the bat. No drivers needed to be installed and didn't have to mess around with it or any of that stuff. Just told the thing to go get the needed updates and botta bing botta boom, after a couple restarts to install what it needed and it's updated. Linux is a nice operating system. I should spend more time playing with it along with ChromeOS.

Not tonight though. Nice hot shower done and it's time to relax, watch Buffalo vs Giants, and drift off into dreamlandzzzzz.....zzzzzz...
