I vaguely remember barber shops. I think late Nov was my last visit. Prolly hit it up again in the spring.

Morning, Friday peoples. You may commence with the thanking of God now

Pretty close Robert. Really not complaining for the tax hit as we knew it was coming. Not a bad return on an initial investment of $100K in 3 years time and we got to enjoy the property as a retreat as well. Could have avoided the hit entirely if we were willing to make it our principle residence for 2 years.

We will most likely do another sometime as it's a good diversification.

Robert, you're correct but your post is giving me flashbacks of the years I sold off my rentals. Mix in the issue of resolving depreciation and I ended up writing four $30k'ish checks to the IRS. Sad

Thanks SOB for the reminder, I need to make an appointment at the Hair Salon to get my hair trimmed. We have a barber shop in town, but I'm hooked on the beauty parlor experience.

Good morning, It's currently 29° F on it's way to teens by afternoon. Everything is coated with an inch of ice and I just spent an hour chipping the ice off of my truck and throwing sand on the walk so mail person doesn't slip while delivering my cigars. Today is a good day to be wherever you are Gene. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Family thing tomorrow. I was asked to bring "tamales or whatever you feel like making" I do not feel like making tamales.

Fried up some empanadas and flautas instead.

Wife's sending me out to get ceiling hooks to hang more plants in the house since she's run out of shelf space by the windows for all the plants.

Quick trip south to get Mrs. a blood test. Iced trees on the way down were sparkling and beautiful in the sunlight. Not so pretty on the way back. Temps below freezing and high winds going to make this an indoor day.

Removed the "last" two new inches from the driveway.
Started chopping away at the 12 on the deck. About 2/3rds of it done.
Shower and shave.
About ready to head to the club for cigars and dominoes.

Before that, Fulham Wolves. At least the first half.

Oh.... it is also to start snowing again in an hour.

Nobody can say I don't have a regular hobby.

When I had hair I'd go to the local barbershops for a cut.

In my little town, for some reason has a lot of hair places. We have 2 old school barber shops plus some chain hair stylist places like Rob Roy and Super Cuts on top of some local chick hairstylist and nail stuff.

One of the old school barbershops was almost a casualty of COVID. It's been around for 3 generations and a staple in the town with sponsoring little league and T-ball teams, soccer teams, cub scouts, and all that jazz. The old man (probably like 80 yrs old) had one barber chair, his son (probably like 60 yrs old) had one chair and the grandson had the third chair. No reservations, first come first serve. On the weekend it was usually an hour wait. No biggie, local newspaper and fishing magazines, car & driver, consumer reports, Sports Illustrated... to read and listen to banter about local sports and politics.

They shut down during the COVID lockdown and looked like they were all done. Old man called it quits, his son retired and the store front was up for sale. The youngest (grandson) of the family reopened it to keep the tradition alive.

One other family owned barber shop that I've used for me and my son also has been around forever (two generations?). They were able to ride out the COVID thigy too. Cool place. Similar stuff to that given above but this place has old school free video games like Pacman, DigDug and Space Invaders while you wait for your turn in the barber's chair.

Both places: about $12 for a standard hair cut. I'd just round it up to a even $20, keep the change.

Since I'm folically challenged, I have no need for a barber anymore but it's nice to see that old school barbers are still trudging along.

^Tomfoolery. Jackassery.

Just cuz...

Mornin' dudes. Now that I went fishing again... I wanna go fishing again. d'oh!

My gear is not the proper stuff for Jax inshore fishing. It is more for offshore, and in Jax that's like... 50 miles. Continental shelf rolls on forever and the drop where the pelagic fish are is far out.

In San Diego you can go out a few miles and be in 3000-6000 feet of water. Ya don't really know because most of the small boat depth finders be like... "I dunno, man... after 1000 feet, I couldn't say fuh sho!"

What Macs said. More specifically, there was a cbidder before my time who made a hobby of spelling out any post count that contained a 9. More recently Bucky revived that practice, and now several folks dabble in it.

Morning, weekend warriors

17° F outside. It seems warmer since there is no wind (yet). Predictions say it will drop to around 10° later with a 50% chance of snow today. Supposed to get a dumping of up to 8" Monday night into Tues.

Tossed some chicken thighs in the crock pot and home made teriyaki sauce (soy sauce, garlic, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, honey). Let the crock pot do it's thing and make some jasmine rice later and some veggie TBD.

100% layabout day. If I feel energetic, I'll do a load of laundry. But if I do so, I'll have nothing to do tomorrow.

Prolly do some steak tips tomorrow. I wish I liked fish/seafood as that would mix things up with the monotony of the cycle of chicken, beef, and pork recipes.

Double fours with a NINE!

Buckle up Bucky, you don't have to wait until Monday the snow is headed your way now. Just talked with a friend west of me that has a fresh inch of powder and still snowing heavy. It started snowing here about a half hour ago and its heading your way.
