Never had a #5 actually, but the BCJ is good. I don't know if I'll purchase many more BCJs, though, just because I like the BPC more and the price and smoking time are very similar.

Uh Scot stay away from the darkside I'll have to smoke them for you. Although the Monte 2 and Diplo 2 debate is one I'm interested in. I would say Monte 2 when it's on but seems like it has a much better chance of having quality control issues over the Diplo 2. I say next purchase you and I split some up and decide for ourselves.

No clue on the Sublimes.

That certainly is a solid suggestion! Some say the Sublime is ready now, others say wait. Interested to hear what the resident experts have to so. Just curious of course.

Not holding any but I've had a few of each over the years but it's been awhile. Not sure of the source of the Monte #2's but pretty confident the Dips were legit. Not much age on any of em that I'm aware of. A friend is a big fan of the Dips...somewhat grassy tasting, very pleasant.

I'm in love with the HdM Epicure Especial right now. Not very complex, but it just hits my palate in that perfect way. Yummy yummy. I need to get some more. Anyone know how they are fresh? The ones I have been burning through are from '09.

For me, yes! Depends on what your palate likes, it's not an overly complex smoke, earthy/hay slight sweetness, a touch of salt with a wonderful aroma. YMMV

Are they very different than the typical Monte profile? You can get a full box of Petite Edmundo for almost the same price as a 10-er of these ...

This may not completely answer your question Nate....as I've not yet had a Monte Sublime before, but I have heard/seen the reference before that the Monte GE 2010 is what the Sublime had hoped to be. And w/ that, i've had and went through a box of Monte GEs. Overall consensus that i've seen is the Monte GE is more well liked than the Sublime for the most part.

That said, and you pretty much know my stance on LEs...but from the ones i've had, they all have very similar profiles. The Monte GE (and I assume the Sublime) are no exception. Chocolate, Earth, maybe a lil' bit of cream. Cuban LEs are, IMO at least, as close to a cuban maduro as you can get w/ out actually getting something from the Cohiba maduro line.

If that profile is one you're after...you won't fine it in the Petit Edmundo (much more wood/cedar notes there for me)....but you certainly can in say a VR Unicos. And get a full box of 25 of em' for pretty damn close to a 10 ct of Sublimes. I'd get the Unicos every time.

I keep waiting to be impressed by a cuban LE, and the next one that will attempt to change my mind is the HdM 2011 Short Pyramid d'oh! . We shall see.

Flavor profile is quite similar to me, the 08 seems to be a little smoother/refined and a touch milder than the standard Edmundo

Everyone keeps agreeing with you on this but I don't feel the same. I think they are good but compared to my Epi No. 1's they aren't even close, but thats because the Epi 1's just '09's are amazing!

I like the Epi #1 a LOT, but haven't had any older than 18-months. I need to get some more of those as well, as the smoking time is more along the lines of my typical time frame. The Des Dieux and Petite Robo are great as well, though more medium or even medium-full sometimes.

I've never had the Epi #2, but want to try that one as well. Oh, and the DC--everyone says those are crazy good, but I need to track some down.

Honestly, I've never had an HdM that I didn't like. I know they are milder, but they have tons of flavor for me and I just love that woody, toasty and creamy flavor (I get some cherry sometimes as well). These are quickly becoming one of my favorite morning cigars.

Thanks, Kyle. I'm kind of in the same place about LEs. I did like the Mag 48 a lot, but that's only one so far that I'd consider getting a box of ... and at $2/stick more than the Mag 46, it's a tough sell for me (I love the Mag 46 ... to me the Mag 48 tasted like how I would imagine a Mag 46 Maduro).

I think I need to pop my cherry on the Monte Petite Edmundos, and probably the Especiales as well. The only Montes I've consistently loved are the A's--got a 5er from 2002, smoked all but one. Awesome mild cigar. I did have one mild-blowing Monte #4 once, but the other 7-8 I've had have only been average and not worth the coin. Same story with the #2s, minus the mind-blowing one.

Yep me too, I have enjoyed all of the HdM smokes thats I have tried so far. My least favorite was probably the petite robo but I think it's more of a personal preferance thing. I just don't like short robos at all, I feel like they always burn too hot and are just wierd. Kind of reminds me of nub cigars and I'm not a big fan. Maybe I should try and track down some DC's.

Recently received a box of PE's from TJ. Smoked one OTT and loved it. Fantastic, and am considering another box of the PE's. But also looking at the Edmundo's and No 4's. Have heard about some inconsistencies in the 4's in the past, but have been told recent productions have been excellent.

Had a HdM Coronations last night. Delish. Not tried PL's yet, afraid they may be too mild for my tastes. Ordering Monte’s and maybe RyJ’s next.

Just opened a box of CJ's from '07, had one and it was hard as a rock and plugged. Only got half way through it. Hope the rest are better.
