My spot didn't have those in stock so I got the Rass. Maybe next time.

I did get some HDM Epicure Especials as well. I love the HDM Hoyo Des Dieux's that I just got in so I figured I would give those a try.

You done good! Awesome smokes!

Couldn't tell you one way or another. Got a box of DT for fathers' day, but its form 2012 so I haven't even tried one yet. The write ups is that it is a light bodied cigar.

Based upon one sample of an aged Des Deux and the aged, little, machine-made, cellophane HdMs I gave you and TJ at your Herf, my best guess is that current Du Marie will be a little woodsy and a little bit sweet- with a nice punch. At around $100 average per box and splitting three or four ways, how could we go wrong?

Hey FGM, it looks like you've got plenty of takers for the current splits but if you want to add one more or are looking for another person in the future, I'm interested. I haven't had too many CCs so I'm looking to broaden my horizons, splits seem like the perfect way to try something different without going all in.

Even if several years old, try one of the RGP a day or two OTT. If it sucks, but it away for 3-4 months and reduce its RH- if it is moist- and it will be a 100% different cigar. Above all, smoke them SLOWWWWWW!!!

Thanks for the info. I have a bad habit of smoking everything too fast.

Last week I fired up a AF Hemingway Masterpiece on the 1st tee and it was down to the nub before I got to the 3rd green. That's a 9+ inch beast gone in 30 minutes! I had such a nicotine buzz that I was loopy for a few holes. It didn't hurt my game though as I was 2 under through 11 holes at English Turn from the tips in 25 mph winds!

Yea same here crgcpro, at least a couple of years ago I mean. I changed to smoking more slowly, correctly in my opinion, and taste changes for every cigar. Everything is more flavorful and more importantly less harsh. I keep trying to get my buddy to slow down but he will crush a 6x60 before I'm done with a robusto..........it's a shame. Try very hard to start smoking slower and I guarantee you will benefit from it. Some of the most amazing smokes I have had are lanceros and if you smoke them fast they turn bitter and harsh fast.

Ok rant over.

I have some RG Panatelas from '03 and the are very yummy for the price. They are a slow smomke like rfen said especially with the small ring guage.

Anyone have an opinion on the Boli Petit Belicosos '09?

Fired up a RG PE and a QYH tonight. After being in transit for a week and in and out of this intense heat they were both in good shape. The RG was especially good. I smoked it nice and slow as was suggested by APBT and really liked it. I'll probably rest the others for a while except for a few that are going out to a couple of botl's.

Only SKIM a 1/8" diameter circle of the wrapper off the head of the cigar. Light it and go from there. If it flows, the resistance will keep it from burning to hot. If there is a little ball of tobacco tucked in there, you can pick it out with your teeth- if it bothers you or might be restricting the draw. You can always cut the opening of a cigar more, but can never go back and cut it less or smaller.

Smoked two this evening: SCDLH La Punta and Mag46. Both from '08. SCDLH was much better than the last one I smoked from the box a year or longer ago. Still had tannin, which was helped a bit with the twang. But, there was still a good deal of burnt tobacco flavor, which subsided more and more while I smoked the stick down. Sweetness continually and subtly increased as I smoked it down to a nub. This cigar definitely develops and changes as it is smoked. Probably needs another couple years or long 'till its really truly ready to smoke. Bet there will be more good flavors that come out. In the meantime I am going to start digging into some aged Mercederes and finish off the several different singles in different sizes I have. 46, what can I say? Bit stronger than I thought it would be, but then again, it did come from a tube. Maybe the tube seems to make a difference in the flavor and strength. I am starting to wonder if buying cigars in tubes for long term aging might be worth a try.The tube certainly is air tight

From the resident "cc expert" on another forum he says exactly that, tubos are better for long term aging. Like 5 plus.

Also I havn't tried the La Punta yet but it's on my list. I have the massive La Muralla and some Oficios that I really enjoy. Thanks for the two reviews.

Smoked a few La Punta's with some age thanks to TJ. Agree it's a very good smoke. To me a subtle nutty sweetenss, medium in strength, less than expected but lots of flavor. Complexity and strength built as rfenst stated,. Full of soft, tangy flavors, and definitely nub-able. And definitely box worthy. Look forward to grabbing more to age hopefully as long as suggested above.

Grabbed a box of HDM Coronations Tubes and also noticed a difference in coming from a tube. My understanding is they where aged in the tubes as opposed to placing in tubes before distribution... if that happens I don't know. Can anyone clarify what is the "tube" process? Also wondered if aging in such an enclosed atmosphere helps in the development of the flavor, because they are some fine smokes considering their young age.

Dig the 46's and was gifted an '09 Tube from dkeage, so I look forward to trying that one in comparison to the naked. It is looking good!!

Well lets just say I tried one and immediately got a box. Now you might not think thats a big deal, but I very rarely do that. Especially since they are fairly expensive. I think it will age amazingly, it's a good-really good smoke now, but it has that taste of ageablility if you know what I mean. If it makes it to you in the CC pass grab it. If not buy a box and if you hate them someone will buy them off you for sure.
