So the cover I got for my boat was collecting water as it rained... stretched out a bit, so I got a tarp to go over the whole thing and thought I had it tied on well enough so it would
not collect water. Bzzzzt. Wrong.
Got an e-mail that my boat was collecting water. Not good. I go look, and it looked like the front was a swimming pool, and the trailer jack broke from the extra weight, so it was tilted forward. Both front holds were full of water, too... I cut the covers, and let it drain out the back drains, but since it was tipped forward I had to bail it out with a bucket.
Turned on the pump for the front holds and that water started coming out, turned on the bilge pump and that started pumping, too. Went and bought a new trailer jack (went up to 1500 lbs with double wheels from 1200 single wheel), got a floor jack under the trailer to lift it, and then replaced the jack. As soon as I had it back on a slight backward angle... bilge pump kicked on and water started flowing again.
I'm really understanding that boat ownership is great when you're fishing and sucks ass any other time.
Praying nothing else was damaged, but it looks alright.
