Mornin' - It's National Backwards Day and National Inspire your Heart with Art Day. Will Drafter spend the day writing his name backwards with crayons or will he just daydream about how dreamy Art is ?

Picked up wife's car. Total came to around 3k.

Decked block and heads, did timing belt and all 3 tensioners, plugs/wires, reassembled and reinstalled for 3k.

I priced it out to do it myself before bringing it in, and I was looking at 1200 ish in parts, plus who knows how much for machine shop. Figured at least 350. So for about 1500 it was done in under a week and has 3 month warranty. Last engine I rebuilt took a full month.

I'm happy. So long as it was done well. Drove home without issue.

Indeed, or at least as friendly as they come these days. Nice area in the aft of the top deck with a very convenient bar.

I really don't feel quite right if I can't do something a bit violent occasionally.

This seems like a good outlet...

We have 3 elevators in our building at work. Two of them are next to each other and go back and forth from the main floor to the lobby. The third one goes to the medical ward.

Elevator #2 has been down frequently over the past few months, and I looked in the room where the electric motors and hydraulic pumps are located. #2 is leaking hydraulic fluid. The “fix” has been to put absorbent pads around the pump housing and refill the tank with fluid.

Well… of course we get charged every damn time this d-bag maintenance guy comes out to “fix” the elevator. So I called the trouble desk and specifically told them what was wrong, and that they needed to fix the leak, instead of just refilling the tank and replacing the absorbent pads.

After I made the call, I took down the confirmation number and gave it to the floor supervisor and showed him the issue and told him what I did. Yesterday maintenance guy shows up and he is pissed at me. Starts cursing at me telling me I don’t need to tell him how to do his effing job, he knows what the eff he’s doing… etc. So I said… if you know what the eff you’re doing, why haven’t you fixed the leak?

So… we’re down to 1 elevator, but at least it’s going to be fixed right this time.

Elevator maintenance is a contract. Our facilities maintenance guys are on site, and they're all good dudes.
