Finally checked my voicemail from yesterday. Was the shop calling to say they had the heads and block back from machine shop and were starting to reassemble. Expecting to be finished on Tuesday.

It cost me about a grand more than doing it myself, but they're getting it done before I could have even started on it. I work till Tuesday, and only get 2-3 hours a day where I'm both home and awake.

Gonna have to put in a few extra shifts to pay for it all though.

Not as thrilling as it sounds ... I'd love to still be working and living what passes for a more normal life ... maybe it'd be different if I had the means to travel extensively and feel less like a squirrel in one of those round cages ... as it is, a t-shirt I picked up here on CBid a while back says it all too well ... "Eat, Sleep, Smoke Cigars" ...

Got to go soon. We are hosting a family Chinese New Year dinner celebration/baby debut in a couple of hours. Making lemon garlic flank steaks, teriyaki chicken (it's the year of the Rooster) and steamed rice. Kids, in-laws, brother and two sisters bringing other food. I'm prolly gonna pass out after dinner and a cigar. If I'm not back tomorrow morning, call the ambulance...

They're professional protesters ... they don't stage their events spontaneously ... it's not as if you and I drew on some poster board with magic markers, fastened our placards to a stick and drove to the airport to protest something ... these are pros, they're highly organized, have big-time printing facilities and full-time management who decide where to stage the events and arrange for transportation ...

.. you certainly don't have much experience with protestors...

Magic marker on cardboard... lyft driver said he was getting random calls to bring people to the airport all day....

Big time printing facilities? Yeah... not one of the signs looked like that. ... and it didn't appear that anyone arranged for transportation. I will say that someone thought to pass out water and granola bars to people... maybe that's the heavily organized protest hive you're worried about?

Finally diluting all the blood in my coffee circulation system. Gonna need every caffeine molecule I can get this Monday.

Would love to go back to 4 day work week. About 6.5 right now with job and building my business.

Four 10's is a sweet schedule. I prefer my 12 hour schedule, though. Three 12 hour days one week, four 12 hour days the next. 84 hour pay period, but you work 7 out of 14 days.

Only thing that sucks about that schedule is night shift... d'oh!

Yup. I do nights, but I schedule them together. I have to do 6 12hr shifts every two weeks. So i work Wednesday night through Tuesday morning, with a week off afterwards. If I got things to do, got a week off to do em. If not, picking up some overtime when you've got a week to spare ain't so hard.

Biggest downside to me (other than nights) is that I have only maybe 3 hours of awake time outside of work. So I don't do anything except work and sleep. Usually go home, eat, grab a beer or two, and head to the garage with a cigar. I'll pay bills or mess with stocks, or watch Netflix or just screw around online but rarely do anything productive.

Helps that I'm an irregular sleeper anyways, so I just sleep when tired no matter time of day. Hurts me when I'm off and trying to be on a schedule of awake during the day and sleep at night. Usually end up taking a nap around 6p, and don't go to bed till 2-3a and then sleep till 9-10.

Mornin' - It's National Croissant Day and National Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day. While most of you are starting your work week, Drafter is sitting at home eating croissants and popping bubble wrap. muttering about not getting a free phone from the Feds.

Yeah, I've been working nights, as a machinist pretty steady since 1983 or so. I really like it myself......all the management people go home when I get there. I go in, get my list of priorities and go to work......unless something goes wrong there is very little interaction between the day shift and the night shift.
We work four 10 or 11 hour days, and maybe 5 or 6 hrs on Friday, on Fridays we go in at noon and out by 5 or 6pm......Fridays can be tough!

There is that "no time to get things done problem", couple hours off between 4-6am, then bed, and then a couple hours when I get out of bed around 12-1:30pm. Beer Herfing then bed lol

We had one snowfall mid December and nothing since.

Of course it's the year I fixed the snowblower and snowmobile.
