Cold, cutting remarks?
Meaty sandwhiches coming into the big NFL weekend?
Will Drafter Stay or Go?
Will Pedro fix Hockeydad's pipe before he moves to Florida?

These and more stroies in the storied 500.

8 with the new 500.

By the way, I'm not happy with the cold you are sending my way. Luckily the snow and rain will be going south of me this weekend.

I should prolly fire up the snow bower on Sat and do some final touch ups from the last snowfall. Front street sidewalk is only one person wide. I'd like to make it twice as wide and carve out the sewer grate so when the snow melts it has a free pass to the drain. Carve the snow bank that the plows left and make room for the trash and recycle containers so they can hug the curb rather then a foot into the road.

I figure it's about a 30 min job.

Congrats 8Track! Applause

Speaking of cold cuts, probably make a couple, mebbe 3 muffulettas for Saturday's lunch while we watch the Houston - Balt game. Probably won't eat all of them so mebbe polish off the last one during the GB - SF game.

I see Drafter at 499, and mine at 500.
Maybe I still don’t know how this works.

Edit: NEIN …. Or maybe 8 just accidentally 10ed?

Jose fixed the pipe while I went to dinner with the wife and a couple of her ex coworkers. Houston police chief was sitting near us so we had to act natural so as not to draw attention.

Nice work 8track.

Welcome to the weekend, folks. Dog walk and a gym trip in my near future. Saw the cardiologist from the VA yesterday. He says everything looks and sounds good. Submitted my meds from the Tricare doc to the VA pharmacy so now they just mail 'em to me... no copay.

He is the one that worked for the Mayo clinic in MN for years. My cholesterol was perfect for the first time... ever. So he's happy with the dosage of the crestor. Also told me since I walk the dog every day and lift and do cardio... he wasn't going to recommend any cardiac physical therapy as I don't need it.

Friday morning dudes. My oldest grandson is in town on a business trip and challenged me to a golf game so we tee off at 9:30. Gonna be a nice 74 today. Last time we played he was longer off the tee but my short game was better. As they say: Drive for show but putt for dough. We shall see who is buying the beers.

Meandering aro7nthe house after an abbreviated dog walk. 13 wc -1 not good for Miss Kuba’s 🐾.

Too much to do this morning/afternoon, so I might decide to do nothing.

Finally got out of the bunk and got on the road. Talked to customer last night. He told me it was highly doubtful they would be able to unload me early. I’m going to their busiest store in the US. He said they all of their appointment slots from the time they opened until my 14:00 was full. So instead of arriving early and potentially running out my 14 workday clock before running out my 11 hour drive shift I slept in. Just means I won’t shut down in Brawley until around 23:00. No worries though. I’ll be able to leave in plenty of time get home Monday and make dinner for my daughter, my ex (it’s complicated) and myself.

Dirty Thirty...

6000+ steps on the dog walk, back/bicep gym day, 30 minutes of run/walk on the treadmill and a Costco run. 13,500+ steps today. Showered, had a protein shake and now relaxing for the rest of the day in my flannel PJ's.

Chicken tenders and broccoli on the afternoon menu. Maybe a beer to go with it.

Made sure my phone was off today so HR wouldn't wake me up to remind me I'd be working dayshift.

They did call. But it was to offer the job. $6.50 paycut on my hourly rate which really sucks but staying where I'm at and bitching about the changes hasn't been working out for me. I stuck it out through covid despite many opportunities to leave for big money. Several former coworkers paid off their homes in a year of covid contracts. I stuck it out for 3 years waiting for the position I built to open up for me but that got bastardized into the exact thing I was trying to prevent. There's inbound directives from the ceo to increase workload and some other things that really just don't work for me. To stay where I am without trying something different would be the wrong move.

I also made it clear to my direct supervisors that the next time I float to a unit I don't work on, I am leaving. I don't care where to, I am leaving. I floated on Christmas, and that's when I put the applications in. I can't make that threat and not follow through.

I don't know how I'll adjust to days, especially going back to working 5-6 days a week like a normal person. I'm hoping I can still use PTO fairly often and do my Gridlife stuff. I don't know how I'll handle the on-call, that drove me away from my last attempt to leave bedside and that was less call hours than this is. But I also got sober last year and being on call isn't as much of a hinderance to my daily habits as it once was. I'm going to give it an honest try.
