I’ve run the numbers on buying a boat many times and the answer always come out: just charter one. Comes with a captain, a deckhand, and no maintenance.

I honestly enjoyed having my boat. I bought a cheap, new one. Didn't find it to be excessively expensive.

I will say, though... the older I get the nicer it is to have someone else doing all the work, driving, cleaning the boat, etc... I just catch fish. Hell, over here they even clean the darn things for you for free!

Mornin Ya'll High of 65 today and sunny... Mowning day!!! Momma said we can mow all the lawns today!!! Yee Haa... I'm going to put her in the saddle of our newest mower 2015 Polen Pro 26hp 46" monster of a mower, guy sold it to me for $200 bucks because he got his taxes back and it has a safety set up that you have to shut the PTO/Blades off to go in reverse? (ill figure out how to bypass that) but for now it mowes great!!! the previous owner, more money then brains... said he's heading out to get him a newer zero turn!!! I told him to keep my number in case he wants to sell that one next tax season??? Herfing

My Neph lives in St. Pete, he bought a Kayak and fishes the inlets, paddling all over down in his area, loades it in his Van, pulls into a public area, unloads, fishes all day... he gets a work out paddling and same time ties into some pretty good fishing holes... a month or so back he hooked a shark bigger then his Kayak.. said he kept it hooked long enough to let it pull him closer to his vehicle... less paddling he says!!! In this area, when the tide is going in or out, some of those inlets look like fkn rapids. I'll pass on the kayak.

The problem I got into is I want 23’ or more so it can run offshore. Twin engines. Weather radar. Real quickly it starts heading towards $140k. Now I gotta store it. More money.

Screw it. I just charter 6-packs as private charters. Tampa, Cabo, Honolulu, Cancun…. Last time was Bodega Bay. We limited on California King Salmon. That was a bucket list trip. Saw tons of whales also. Had so much salmon we fed 3 neighboring houses! Next up….Port Canaveral.

A small boat just for inshore running around the Indian River and Banana River could be interesting.

For a 6-pack charter, if the price is right... I'd be up for that.

It is all we have known. The nine months of cold weather is THE downside. People here are the heart of Midwest Nice.
No earthquakes or hurricanes. Comparably less crime and a better overall quality of life.

Makes us appreciate warm weather vacations.

Drove an hour round trip to look at a truck. Dealer south of my parents has 3 2022 Silverados with hefty discounts and 0%apr for 48mo. The one I liked was 7500 off msrp but I couldn't pull the trigger on an $800/mo payment. 0% expires may1 so I'll be missing out on this one.

Still on the fence between used and new. Prices are finally coming down to more manageable numbers but used finance rates are insane and over the course of the loan the $36k truck ends up costing the same as that $45k truck at 0% (and add in several k for the inevitable trans blowing). Sales guys always pushing monthly payments but I don't care if you can get my payment to $600/mo if I need to pay that for 7 years I'm paying more overall.

Gonna cash in a big chunk of PTO to get my down payment a lot fatter. Also cut my retirement withholding down to the match rate and stopped roth contributions.

We start the day above freezing (34). It’s the little things that matter. 51 is the forecasted high.
Should be mostly sunny and little wind for an hour mid morning, which will be Kuba Time.
Then we go onto parent stuff.

Pleasant day to all.

I7 is better for graphics. I5 is fine for most things.

I’ve got three I5s and one I7 on my desk. The I5s are work computers.

Should we assume the i7 is for graphic porn ?

Nope. It would be good for gaming if I had time for that chit. I totally overbought because I got a good deal at Costco but it should last a long time as a result.

It actually depends more on the numbers next to the I5 and I7 than the generation themselves. For example an I5 12600k is about 20%-30% more powerful than a I7 9700k.

Although, you only need good CPUs if you do a lot of programming, gaming, or statistics. It just depends on what you need the computer for.

MACS, I have i5, i7 and i9. Unless you are doing hard core computational stuff, the i5 is a workhorse at the right price point (Huzza makes a good point about the clock speeds). Are you planning on doing any autocad, working with giant spreadsheets (100-500MB) or video editing? If not, i5 will be more than fine. No need to spend extra coin on a processor you don't need. Spend the difference on a good video card if you plan to play some games. Also, because you asked in that PM you sent, the i5 will be fine for the virtual reality porn stuff. ThumpUp

Pretty much anything you buy today, the average user won't tax the processor (surf the web, e-mail, word processing, spread sheets, home finance, etc...). I like to maximize RAM. 4 GB RAM is sufficient for most average needs, I like to have 8 GB.

Just bought an inexpensive Dell Dell Latitude 7490: Intel i5-8350U, 16GB DDR4, 256GB Solid State Drive for some simple CAD work. I installed Solid Edge on it and it works just fine.

Granted the CAD stuff I'll be doing to play with at home is pretty basic and the Latitude should be sufficient for making simple 3D models and designs of furniture. If I needed to run some higher level stuff like stress analysis and simulations it would probably be laggy and choke but for making simple design models at home it's fine.

Work will provide me with a machine that's more supped up to use AutoDesk Inventor for molding simulations, stress analysis stuff, and animations.

If doing heavy graphics intensive stuff (serious CAD, Photoshop, video editing, gaming), you should have a separate the video card. The video card will have it's own processor to handle the graphics stuff rather than a machine where the video part is shared as part of the CPU.

Edit: what Stogie said (was typing my reply and was late to the party before Stogie posted)

Hey Bucky the first thing you should do at the new job is add a longevity test the those plastic chairs your firm makes. They last one summer in the sun and fall apart. I see them on the curb waiting for the bulk pickup everywhere.

Part of the problem is UV light degrades plastic and leading to some brittleness. Other part is fat asses sitting on them and leaning back. Third part, when you break them, you buy another (steady stream of revenue)

Wife and I are going out to dinner with our friends this evening. Texas de Brazil is the name of the place. Similar to Fogo de Chao, but about $6 per person cheaper and our friends like it better.

I dunno... I'd happily pay the extra $6 a person for that candied bacon at Fogo de Chao. Drool

Anyway... prolly gonna eat way too much.
