Bike ride was good. 18 miles round trip 35 minutes there and 45 home. That's pretty close to my average drive time at night. Usually about 35 minutes there but only 15-20 going home in the morning.

Now time to chop down some bigass trees.

Good Thursday Morning to All! It's 75° on the way to 81° today. Roasting coffee and getting ready for another match this Saturday in the metropolis of Douglas, Georgia.

Ram,

Bathroom is going to cost 50-80% more than I mis-budgeted, but it is going to be first class and have a very nice appeal to a buyer when the time comes over the next few years. Wife is all in. Need your permission. Should I go for it?

Thanks,

Robert

You smoking at 225?

It's been sitting around 275 for the majority of the cook. Prolly be ready to rest it in an hour or so. Wrapped it in butcher paper after 5 hours of smoke.

Only had 2 beers in the last month or so. Staying away from carbs/sugars for a while. Trying to lose a few more lbs... 185 at last check.

Been eating meat, eggs, cheese and not much more for almost a month. Lifting weights and walking/jogging.

Robert,

Please consider an electric outlet behind the commode for an eventual bidet toilet seat, that is, unless you've already got them in the works.

Rented the lift. Ridgeline did not like towing it. Didn't help any it's 5klbs with no trailer brakes. Then I got stuck in the yard 3x trying to get it in position. Finally got it where I thought it should be but at full extension the bucket gets pulled more towards the center so I was 6ft from the tree. It's a good 15 minute procedure to get the outriggers down and level the unit. Hitched it back on, backed it up till it was damn near touching the tree, unhitched and put the outriggers down couldn't get level so it wouldn't run. Fold it back up hitched up again backed it up next to the tree and ran it up.

50ft lift fully extended sways a LOT. I hate heights to start and that didn't help. Just stayed focused on the tree, never looked anywhere else. Didn't even take a picture up there cause I didn't want to know how high I was. The tree canopy is pretty thick at 50ft couldn't see anything anyway. That helped. The tree I was cutting was at least 80ft. Had to lop off the top 30ft in one go and then it got hung up in another tree. Some careful maneuvering of the bucket and cut two more trees tops off to get it down. Cut the rest of the trunk down in 10ft sections.

Rental was $500 for 4 hours. The setup/moving took an hour. Cutting the tree took 2.5, I returned it with 5 minutes remaining.

I guess the $1k/tree to cut the top half off wasn't such a bad price from the tree guys. There's 2 more back there that need to come down but they're leaning hard away from any buildings so I'm not too worried. I'll probably pickup some overtime and pay to get them dropped. That was a helluva job and it cost me $500 to do it. I'll "happily" pay $1k for the others.

Just got done picking up sticks and putting them on the burn pile. I am beat. Parts to fix my mower sposeda be here today I think that's tomorrow's problem.

She's fine. Put the nose under a pickup. Needs at least a hood. Hood and roof were the only two body panels that haven't been replaced yet. Normally it's other people running into her car.

danm, glad there were no injuries. Car parts are replaceable, human parts... not so much.

Fired up the snowblower to burn some gas. I figure the gas in it has been there since last winter. Pump the primer a couple times and If fires up after a couple pulls. The cables that twist the chute right or left are broken. Gonna have to buy a new set and put them in but I cant seem to find them online (they are like a brake cable or shifting cable used on bikes).

Reading some posts on a couple of forums on this model, one gripe was about the cables. Sometimes water gets into the cable and then water freezes and the cables are frozen in place and don't work . Other option is a Band-Aid fix: tie some small ropes or bungie cords to the chute and manually twist it by pulling them as if your are riding a horse.

Can you get ethanol-free gasoline? It keeps a little better with a stabilizer and small engines run/last longer without ethanol.

just visited my older sister in her "new" assisted living facility. The owners of her former home bought a new property close to our home and converted it into a second place. It's reminiscent of the original, but more spacious with a more efficient floor plan and further away from heavily trafficked streets and the freeway....

Sister seems happy...she's in a larger room...she wanted to move in order to stay with her fave caretakers, a hubby-wife team who are very competent and friendly..the fact that she (the wife caretaker) is a great cook is a bonus, but a prime consideration.

On the downside, Lori's condition seems to be slowly deteriorating...she has nearly zero strength in her left limbs and is confined to her bed or to her transport chair...her vision and hearing on her left side is minimal...her short term memory is gone and she can hardly verbalize her thoughts (if any?)...the good news is that after radiation treatment, her brain tumor hasn't gotten worse...waiting for a second MRI next month...

Not sure. Haven't looked into it. All gas stations around here would have ethanol mix gas. I'd have to search for a place that sell the non-ethanol version. Maybe some places that sell it for race cars and/of farm equipment. Not gonna drive and hour away to get a gallon of ethanol free gas.

Finding non ethanol gas is low on the to do list.

Bucky that's how I adjust my chute, the bridle method. Mine wasn't cable it was manual rotate but the tension collar broke so it would spin freely so I drilled some holes and tied a rope loop. Works great

Hey Danm... I need to sharpen my mower blade. The nut that holds it on, IIRC it turns opposite, correct? Righty loosey and lefty tighty?
