The cat? Hmm, mebbe sumting in the cat food? Think

Cats are natural predators and even if they are indoor cats their whole life, hunting is in their DNA. It's like trying to get a Labrador to not like water or a Husky to no like snow... ain't gonna happen. He's an indoor cat but stares at birds and stuff outside as if on a hunt. I'm sure if any mice try to get in, he'll be the first to know and deliver a carcass to your feet. "Look what I found, can you get me another? This one seems to not be moving anymore."

Part of me wants to put one of those suction cup bird feeders outside on one of his the window of his perches but that would be mean. Poor Jasper doing face plants against the window while the birds mock him.

I've always had cats and dogs in my life. Humans and many pets are pack animals. They become part of your family (pack) and we become part of their family (pack). I've never owned a horse but I understand that they also have that same relationship with us humans.

Good Sunday Morning to All! It's a clear 76° on the way to 82° today.

The Cicada symphony is in full swing. These are not as bad as some previous years here and in Texas, just a continuous hum. Much lower than the tinnitus tone that is my constant companion.

Put on a coat in 80 degrees and attacked a stand of palm trees in the back yard. Only slightly feel like a pin cushion but I'm down about a quart on coolant about now.

Cicadas are edible. Maybe make a stir fry with them. Salt, pepper, garlic, onion, some sauce of your choice with some veggies laird out on a bed of jasmine or wild rice. As a side have a garden salad with some grasshoppers for an extra crunch. Appetizer: deep fried pickles.

Palm spikes are wicked. We have some Sago palms in containers, apparently they are toxic, I know the deer never touch them.

Killed my fourth scorpion 🦂

That, with the two rattlesnakes,
and all the vegetation with needles and spikes on it,
It’s like everything out here is intent on killing you.

I couldn’t feel more at home…

That kinda sounds yummy. Is the meat rather tender and how would you strip off the scales?

Slice it into about 1/4" chips, bread it with some seasonings and deep fry it to golden brown. Dip the chips into marinara sauce like mozzarella bites as an appetizer.

Good Monday Afternoon tp All IT's off and on rain today. Spent this morning blowing weeds and mud off the driveway, drains and concrete. We got a heavy shower yesterday that made a mess. The rest of the morning was spent depriving a few hundred handgun and rifle cases.

Woke up groggy to 72RH and it’s heading to 80+ unless it rains. Bring it on. This muggy weather and the flying insects and bugs and flies put a real damper on my cigar smoking enjoyment.

Danm, I may need a housecall. As I was smoking my cigar last night on the back patio, I watched a large racoon walk along the top of my neighbor's back wall, traverse my back wall, and move on down the line of block walls. It stopped on my wall to stare at me so I shined my flashlight at it, but it seemed uninterested. I made some nooise and it moved on.

I have seen bobcats, javelina, coyotes and rattle snakes in my neighborhood, but this was the first racoon. I think we may need a few more bobcats, javelina, coyotes and rattle snakes to take care the racoon...

I may need to look into a surpressed .22.

Maybe consider a high pressure/velocity air rifle, they can use a suppressor with no tax tamp because they are not "firearms", take a look at Pyramidair.com

Would you even need a suppressor for an air rifle considering theyre legal to shoot in your backyard? I do know a .22 cal pellet rifle will fire a .22 caliber expanding lead pellet at 1000-1200 fps. So it's basically the same as a .22 and even cheaper to shoot so that's good advice from Gene.

My back yard, behind the house, is trees. I'd shoot that mofo and my neighbor would be happy... one less varmint to mess with his chickens.

Crack was too big to repair. Mobile truck gonna come to da house on Friday and replace the windshield. Apparently windshields are covered by comprehensive in FL without a deductible, once a year... huh. Did not know that. It's a shade over $400 so it would have been all out of pocket for me. My deductible is $500.

Usually windshield deductibles are $50. Used to be able to get a coupon online for $50 off if paying out of pocket or they pay your $50 deductible if filing a claim.

Replaced one in CA... had to pay the $500 because for the wife's Mercedes the windshield was a LOT. Like $1800 or some sheizer.

Interesting idea Gene, I hadn't thought about an air gun. Of course, I immedately started shopping for a Mk4 or a TX22.

Lemme see if I see the animal again. Like I said, lot's of predators around here to take care of it for me...

Coons are pretty common visitors at night. Not as often as wetter climates but if you look on ND people catch them all the time on their ring cameras.

But like Gene said, plenty air rifles can take down a coon. I have a break barrel Gamo that has taken raccoons, groundhogs, and innumerable squirrels. Wife uses it to shoot squirrels off her bird feeders. Opens the kitchen window and she doesn't miss.

That said, the gamo is on the low end of pellet rifles for raccoons. It definitely needs good shot placement. Something a bit more powerful or a heavier pellet like the 22 and 25 air rifles would be better suited for animals larger than squirrel.

I had no idea, I've seen bobcats, coyotes, scorpions, tarantulas, on the regular, but this was my first raccoon.

My last air powered gun was a pump bb gun, these things have come a long way. Which is good since the wifey politely asked me not to buy a .22 for backyard use. Something about not wanting to bring the kids to prison to see me...

Several inches of peanut oil, about 375 degrees, drop in the cicada and cook for 2 or 3 minutes or until it floats telling you that it is done. Remove with a basket scoop, drain on newspaper or paper towels. Spritz with vinegar and salt liberally. When they’re cool, enjoy with ice cold beer.

Fasted from Sunday night before 5pm until just a little bit ago. 42 hours. Broke the fast with some bone broth, then a protein smoothie with yogurt, spinach and blueberries.

I weighed 177.5 lbs just now.

Walked the pupper, took momma to the commissary and got a haircut while she was in there. Checked out the bourbon selection to see if I needed anything... nope.
