How does it taste?

I haven't had a Margarita in years. When we lived in Texas work conditions required extensive stress relief. Stress relief involved enjoying enough Margaritas to wear out several blenders.

When things got rowdy we would occasionally switch to instant Margaritas. You sit in a chair, lean your head back and open your mouth. A shot of tequila, a squeeze of lime and a shot to Triple Sec are poured into you mouth, and swallowed, extra point for gargling the mixture first.

I tried this concoction where you mix 2 oz of whiskey... hear me out, now... with another ounce of whiskey! It's called a rusty nail. I know, right? Why the **** would they call it that?

Normally it's 2 oz single malt scotch and 1 oz of Drambuie... (scotch with honey and herbs). But I tried it with bourbon. Wild Turkey 101 (it's good and cheap, so perfect mixer). Jaysus hisself would love this stuff.

Not my favorite, but an interesting experiment. Definitely strong. It recommended blending with ice, but I never liked the slushy version

Frank, if I could just sell some of these carbon credits I could start on our ocean front hotel/lodge.

It's a tough sell right now, considering that it was so cold up here last night that I had to turn the heaters back on--in the middle of May.

I'm trying though. You're going to get the Presidential suite.

You guys have a good weekend.

gonna take forever if you do that barter thang...
might as well just wait for the ocean to come to you, cuz it will!

We had the Mother's Day gathering yesterday, since our son and his family are out of town today. Smoked some baby backs, made a batch of baked beans with mapled pork belly and steamed some corn on the cob. Daughter added fresh fruit and potato salad. After lunch, we spent a few hours in the pool and jacuzzi. Nice way to honor the mothers in our family...

Spoke to an LFD representative yesterday who told me they are currently experiencing a shortage of maduro and dark tobaccos. So many of their dark cigars are gonna be in short supply for the next 6 months. There is already a lot out of stock at the larger online retailers. Just a heads up to LFD fans who lose sleep when they run out of their favorite LFD.

Stuffed 1/2" casings with 3lbs of beef jerky/sausage. First time trying this. Ran two test batches of the filling and it turned out good, so rather than go with the recipe I know works, I stuffed em with an entirely new one.

Last night I dehydrated 2 apples and 4 jalapenos, ground those into half the meat with some brown sugar. I dehydrated a mango, 2 peaches, 4 habaneros and ground those with the other half of the meat along with a generous helping of Tajin. Salt, washyoursister sauce, Prague powder as well.

Not sure how it's gonna turn out. Hopefully good.

I have an electric smoker and run without the woodchip chute plug to increase airflow. Prevents temps from getting over 160ish and airflow for dehydrating. Doesn't do much for smoke though, the wood chips just burn real fast so there's some liquid smoke in the meat.

Saturday was interesting. Our son turned 3 a few days ago. He earns a weekly allowance for taking the dogs out to play with one of us supervising. He watches 2 age appropriate educational shows a day with one of us supervising. He and I went out to pick out a Mothers day gift from him. He was spending his own money. I quickly pointed out some pretty flowers at a modest price. He wanted to look a bit more. 3 hours later we were back at the flowers. He picked out a much nicer bouquet. I explain the price difference to him. He said they are for mom, and she is the best mom ever. I have to admit I had to wipe away a few tears.

Something to try when you want to add smoke without the heat, use pellets in a smoke tube. Works great for cold smoking cheese and such in the winter or anytime you just want to keep temps low. I'll use that technique in jerky and other cured/dried items I don't want to cook.

Red Hot Chili Peppers- Yertle The Turtle
From the album Freaky Styley

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wMszK6IYymo

Dr. Seuss put to song

On a far away island of Salamasond
Yertle the turtle was king of the pond
A nice little pond, it was clean, it was neat
The water was warm, there was a-plenty to eat
Until one day the king of them all
Decided the kingdom he ruled was too small
"I'm a ruler of all that I see
But I don't see enough and that's the trouble with me"

"With this stone for a throne, I am too low down
I cannot look down upon the places beyond"
So Yertle the turtle king lifted his hand
And Yertle the turtle king gave a command
He ordered all the turtles onto one another's back
He piled them high into a ten turtle stack
"I'm Yertle the turtle, the things I now rule
I'm king of a cow, I'm king of a mule"

Look at the turtle go, bro

Then down from below in the great turtle stack
Came a burp from a plain little turtle named Mack
Just part of the throne, this burping little turtle
Looked up and said "I beg your pardon, King Yertle"
I've pains in my back, my shoulders, and my knees
How long must we stand, here your majesty
"Silence!" the king of the turtles barked back
To the bad burping little turtle named Mack
"I'm Yertle the turtle, oh marvelous me
For I am ruler of all that I see"

Yertle, Yertle the turtle
Yertle, Yertle the turtle
Yertle, Yertle the turtle
Yertle, Yertle the turtle

Yertle, Yertle the turtle
Yertle, Yertle the turtle
Yertle, Yertle the turtle
Yertle, Yertle the turtle

Wow! Look at that turtle go, bro
Yertle, Yertle the turtle
Yertle, Yertle the turtle
Yertle, Yertle the turtle
Yertle, Yertle the turtle
Yertle, Yertle the turtle
Yertle, Yertle the turtle
Yertle, Yertle the turtle
Yertle, Yertle the turtle
Yertle, Yertle the turtle

Glare Must be a worker type.

Looks like a fine day to play around from here. I do have to attack one more palm cluster but that won't take long.... unless there is a wasp nest in there.

Worker type but not the worst Mon. Day and a half of work then set up for an outing. Work the outing (a.k.a. plY golf) for two days and get paid for it. Then vacation day Fri because it's not good for my mental health to go back to work after that

Orlando will be 87F/74F 55% chance of rain. 14-24mph breeze. Then, next week will be in the 90F's every single day with chokig RH. Got a cigar in early morning yesterday, which is practicly the only out-door smoking I'll be doing for the next four months.

I miss golf. Used to play a few times a month for years, then just stopped when my shift changed about 10 years ago. Sold my clubs last year and regretted it the next day.

Finished the last of the palm trimming for this year after the 5 mile walk. Temps are heating up and will be 61/92 here. About time to get the floaty inflated cuz the pool is starting to look good.

As Newtons law says: A body at rest remains at rest unless acted upon by a force. And I'm not feeling any force about now.

Almost all "executive" 9 hole courses around here have a couple par 4 holes thrown in which allows you to get the big dog out. Typical par is about 29. Only time I play those is with my older and younger brothers who don't play very often. Typically shoot about 33.

I've never played a single round of golf. If it's a par 3, I'll probably shoot a 10.

Fishing gear is already pretty damn expensive... as are cigars... and some bourbon... I don't need another expensive vice. d'oh!

I love John Lee Hooker’s version too but George’s version really helped “spread the word” about older blues songs.

The only time I saw George was on his “50 States in 50 Days” tour. He opened in Hawaii in a small club called, iirc, “Dragon Lady”. The place was PACKED and GTnTD put on a GREAT show!

The low pressure that moved in with rain made better cigar smoking weather. I’m taking advantage of it, especially now that the rain has stopped. Tomorrow will be muggy.

Big rains hit the other side of the island on Friday and Saturday but we got some yesterday and even more today. Glad the weather kinda, sorta held up and luckily there was a window that allowed me to grill for Mother’s Day dinner. Ain’t no way I’d be able to iffin’ it rained as hard as it’s been coming down today.

Hoping the clouds move on and skies are clear(er) tonight. Got a Monte #2 from my 2019 Secret Santa (MIA Keltic) lined up
