Jeebs, my box to you was mailed today but wifey did not get a tracking number, so please let me know if/when it gets there.

Leebo and Brothers, package received details to follow. Lee has been up to shenanigans and I’ve been horswoggled once again.

Now here this…

LEEBOT BOX PASS W/TWIST SPRING ‘24

Leebo hit me with a random act of violence. In the box I found a very interesting bag of coffee from a local Philly roaster. I’m retired Navy so you can guess I drink a lot of coffee and it is my favorite pairing with cigars. Thank you , Lee for a very thoughtful local treat to share with me. I’ll think kindly of you when I’m sipping coffee and puffing on the incredible gift of cigars you’ve sent me.

As for the cigars, 17 total, I’ve got 3 good looking mystery sticks which I’m champing the bit to investigate. Leebo sent me a Cuban Cigar, a Partagas Short aka Party Short for all you noobs out there (sniff! 🥸). I’ve recently read about these and of course I can’t get them so I’m thrilled to have this gem in my collection. And you better believe it will be smoked and not hoarded. I’m often talking about Aging Room and asking a lot of questions about aging cigars. I can’t find many of the Aging Room blends I want to try and I’m on the “email me” list on many sites for some of these that Lee sent. They are all well aged and some are limited editions and / or no longer in production. Well aged and beautiful.
AGING ROOM:
Core Maduro / NH
Solera Sungrown / NH
Solera Corojo / NH
Rare Collection- expensive and hard to find / NH
Bin #2 - expensive and impossible to find / NH
T112 a beautiful and rare treat / NH
Quattro Original- well aged treat, my favorite cigar
Quattro F55M - when they re-banded the Quattro

OTHER CIGARS, all old AF and smell absolutely gorgeous, yellow stained cellos:
Montecristo Afrique - out of production / NH
Torańo Signature from 2006 / NH
Holt’s Dominican from 2005 / NH
Indian Tabac Classic from 2005, I’ve read about this / NH
JR Edicion Limitada from 2008, I don’t think they make this blend anymore / NH

Truly a generous gift from Lee, thank you Brother! Very special to me because you know what I’m interested in and put together Aging Room and well aged cigars for a spectacular and personal treat. Thank you, Lee!

Tiver I get a funny result too. It’s a wonky tracker from an old post office in Goldsboro Md. I just dropped it off this morning so give it a day to see what happens

I felt ok there for a minute not be the dead last sender, until I was.

Cheno, box heading your way. ETA Mon, which is a long time to go about 40mi. Should've looked into the Pony Express

9505 5122 7711 4109 0060 28

Or something to that effect. Those numbers are really small

9114 is a “label 400” tracker. Asked my mother she worked at the post office over 30 years. March has been a year since she retired. Those people still call her daily asking her stuff. She explained more and how and when they use this. It’s all over my head but she got excited when I ask postal stuff

That's funny and cute. I hope your mom is doing well.

I typed in the number followed by USPS and it showed up. Without the USPS at the end I get weird results

All is good and I will look for it.

Blind from jeebs. #3

Light brown romusto.
Pre light has a sweet grass smell.
Very easy draw and burn stayed perfect. Got about a 2'' ash before it fell off.
I got a vanilla and maybe a touch of caramel/cocoa with that Connecticut grassy taste. Absolutely no pepper or spice.
Left a little bit of a coating in the mouth like after eating pecans without the bitter.
About a 45 minute burn.

I'll guess this is the cheap gar. But I really liked it.

Package came in from Tiver! Here are the damages:

-AF 858 Natural Anniversary (love these)
-La Aurora 107 (also love these)
-Graycliff 10yr Vintage Maduro (nh)
- Southern Draw Manzanita (nh)
- Drew Estate Herrera Esteli (nh)
- Three unlabeled beauties all either Connies, Habanos, or Cameroons (I can’t tell the difference)

And the goodies
- Lamoka Mocha Caramel Popcorn (I am sure these won’t last long)
- Witches Brew Coffee from Finger Lakes Coffee
- Boveda 50 Ct 1yr Humidor Bag (because I’ve been using my lack of storage space as an excuse to buy less cigars)

Thanks Tiver!! I look forward to giving my best attempt at a cigar review. Given I can’t tell the difference between light colored wrappers, I’m sure that will inform you about how poor my reviews are going to be. I’m going to let them rest for a week and get started.

#3 from P-Dub

4.5" 50 ring Maduro. Smooth oily wrapper. This one is pretty hefty and seems well packed. Draw a touch tight but still good.
Chocolate and light coffee on cold draw. Started at 1500hrs nothing to accompany it.

First:
Mild black pepper and coffee to kick it off. Getting sone cedar and lots of spice on retro that lingers in my nose. Touch of sweetness too.

Second:
Leather now, reminds me of chewing on my base ball glove when I was a kid. That was a nice memory. Pepper is gone. Now getting some dried leaves, I think. Definitely some oak in there.

Third:
Pepper creeping back in and now some baking spices, cinnamon and nutmeg. Chile pepper is getting predominant and getting in on my lips, tongue and nose. And the spices are bigger now too.

Smoke time was just over one hour. This was my favorite of the three and took this right to the nub. I'm leaning on this as the higher of the three. But I haven't looked yet. Kind of reminds me of a Liga #9

Now to look........

My guess:
#1 low
#2 mid
#3 high

The results:
#1 Macanudo Hyde Park Maduro
This was my first Macanudo of any kind.

#2 Arturo Fuente Anejo No.50 maduro
Another first for me. I liked this one a lot, and toyed with making this my higher end until I had #3. Though this one was without it, I found it interesting that I picked up Spanish cedar here and the cigars do come with a sleeve. You can definitely pick that up.

#3 Arturo Fuente Rothschild Maduro. Was my favorite of the 3.

Clearly I was wrong on all accounts. 😔 if it wasn't for the burn issues towards the end, the Anejo would likely have been my top choice.

Thank you Papa for a wonderful experience and Danm for setting this all up. This was the first time I ever sat down a recorded thoughts as I was smoking. Normally I just sit back and enjoy. This really makes you think about things as it moves along.

I don’t see how you were wrong on all cigars. Looks like you did a damn fine job. How do you think they should be labeled? I agree the Macanudo should probably be the low rank but I don’t know about the Fuentes. I do enjoy the Macanudo from time to time but I never thought it would outrank a Fuente from what you guys say.

@JGRAZ I will go along with you somewhat. I think the Mac maddie are pretty one dimensional. The AF Rothschild maddie is in the entry category of long filler AF cigars. I am a little familiar with both.and I think you did well describing each. The AF Roth maddie can be a little rough around the edges, but I like it pretty well. The Mac maddie is extremely predictable albeit on the rather mild side without any oomph. The Anejo is unfamiliar to me so can't comment.

Sitting quietly and thinking about what a cigar is doing is a great way to realize what it is about cigars that we like.

Right to the point Telle. Looking forward to the full round up. I can imagine the smoke you smoked as your description of the draw and burn was quite familiar. Not the specific smoke, more the event.

Drginc's package landed today.

A pound of Bergers cookies from Baltimore

A nice single rest Avo ashtray - maybe noticed I said I use a mason jar as an ashtray. Even if not, it'll be a welcome addition to the garage.

An Apache hardcase with cigars 1, 2, and 3. All medium-brown slightly splotchy toros that to my eye are identical. This is gonna be real interesting. This really looks like 3 cigars color-matched for the same box. There may be some differences in caps but there's no visual cues to tell me what's what.

Then on the bottom level some hitchhikers.

Rocky Patel vintage 1990 - nh
Sea Knight Greyhawks? - nh and never heard of at all
A robusto in cello with a pigtail cap and tissue paper covering it. Sticker on the back says "Just Plain Stupid" - nh
Padron Delicas in some super yellowed cello. This gotta be 5+ years old at least. I've never had a box live past 3 years so I've never seen it this dark.
Montesino cigar - nh never heard of and also in yellow cello
Avo Maduro in yellow cello - I don't know if I've had one but I've not had an aged one.
Fuente 858 - It's been a while but I like these.

This is an incredible package, thank you so very much! I'm tempted to go out and get started on the blind ones but I'm on call all weekend and would hate to have to ditch it if my pager goes off.

Glad they made it. Those cookies are very popular around Baltimore, grew up with them and always remind me of home.

The ashtray was made by my daughter and hope you can find it as useful as the jar lol. As for the cigars, the Sea Knight and just plain stupid are exclusive to Davidus cigars which is a small chain here in MD and the only shop/lounge around me. The case is what I use for camping and travel for my cigars. With only the bottom and lid foam it can hold about 2O cigars which gets me through a 2 week trip.

That Padron, Avo, 858, and Mantesino are all aged more than 10 years. Montesino is the Fuente Budget line but punches above its price point in my opinion.

Also the plain stupid is a heavy hitter so eat first and maybe have a cookie or 2 on hand for the sugar to counteract the heavy Ligero.

I look forward to your reviews of the 3, I thought it would be fun to eliminate any bias based on wrapper and vitola.

Jeebs #2 mystery stick.

Light brown large romusto.
First smell sweet Light chocolate.
After burning no sweet at all. Very little spice.
A little bit of pepper on the lips.
I get a little earthy and a little hay/grassy.
About half way through just a touch more spice and now getting a little oak.
A little tight on the draw burn line was very good.
I would say a light to medium body.

I'm gonna guess this is the mid range smoke.
It was ok. Not a lot going on.
The initial smell makes me think the wrapper on #2 and #3 could be the same.
About an hour ten smoke time.

I went out to the mailbox it used to be about four feet off the ground. I swear the post was two feet further into the ground as if something massively heavy drove it down. Opened the box and there was a very heavy box of cigars. The return addy says "J" something or other.

Looks like Jake put a hurting on me and my mailbox. I hope my mail carrier is okay.

Full damage report to follow later.

Good news. Seems my mail carrier is no worse for wear and the mailbox, while not probably designed to handle this kind of weight, will not require extensive repairs . OTOH. I will take a while to recover.

Jake has delivered a crushing blow. In a flagrant display of brotherly generosity, he has made it quite clear that rulez are for sissies and he ain't no sissy. Truly an overachiever in the art of forcing a large quantity of cigars into a small package, Jake has fortified my stash with the enhancement of 20 cigars. This required the removal of both of my shoes to count that high. Thank goodness I have all my fingers and toes lest I should have been left to guess at the totality of the offering.

Thank you Jake for this over-the-top smörgåsbord of tasties. Wow!! Truly a banquet of the torcedor's craft.

To begin, Jake has provided the requisite three cigars for review. As further display of unabashed disregard for rulez, he has chosen to name the three as opposed to numbering them.

Big Grey the dog - approx 5.25 x 50-52
Earl the horse - approx 6.5 x 54ish
Fred the bull - of course it's Fred (Ferdinand), it's a bull 5 x 50-52

At a quick glance all three cigars appear to have similar color, a very slightly mottled, medium brown hue. Also they are relatively vein free, but not super smooth. Fred may be a little reddish.
I'll look closer when it's time to spark them up.

The rest of the package went beyond generous and quite pushed the limits of containment afforded by the cardboard walls of the box:

Ashton VSG Illusion
DE Herrera Esteli CTBL Lancero
DE Herrera Esteli Toro esp - like these a lot
Diamond Crown Maximus robusto No 5
Don Pepin Garcia Original Exquisito
Don Pepin Garcia Serie JJ Belicosa
Dunbarton Sobremesa El Americano
Dunbarton Stillwell Star English No 27
Fiat Lux Intuition
La Dueña No 7
LFD Double Claro robusto
Montecristo Espada Estoque Platinum No 2
Oliva V No 4
Padron 3000
Romeo y Julietta crafted by Plasencia Churchill
Sinistro Plata o Plomo LE Lancero
Warped Cloudhopper 485 I enjoy these

Almost all never had with just a couple maybe had in a different vitola. Thanks very much Jake. You've shared a truly great variety here and I know I'll enjoy each cigar.

I will dig in to the reviews soon. Very much looking forward to it.

Don't sell yourself short. Remember they're your reviews. They will only be poor if you don't put any effort into them. It's not about how many notes or flavors you come up with or whether the cigar is good or bad. It's about how you respond to the particular cigar.

I very much look forward to your reviews as well as all the reviews from the participants in this thread.

Cigar #1 from sob.
Real good burn, ash held up pretty nice. Pretty much 1 or 2 flavors earthy/leather the whole cigar. Nothing too complex. Didn't notice much changes. Had a slight sweet smell pre light. My best guess with only smoking #1 is this is the yard gar. Might change my guess after I have the next one.

Unknown #1 from DrgInc I will write out my thoughts as it happens and leave a long stream of consciousness review.

Medium-dark brown mottled toro. Very firm roll/pack but draw is not too tight.

First light heavy pepper on retro, dry astringent texture. Woody notes maybe bitter bakers chocolate. Hard to find anything beyond the astringency and wood. My least favorite profile in a cigar. If im honest throwing it in the ditch right now has crossed my mind. But ive powered through worse and been rewarded so we'll keep on.

It's a very slow burning cigar. The body is full, the flavors linger a long time. There's an oily mouthfeel but the bitter astringency is overruling any benefit. Still just woody, bitter, dry with hefty Pepin pepper on retro. First touchup at 1" there's a small crack in the wrapper around 2" and the lagging side of the burn is distal to the flaw, so hopefully it'll correct.

After 30 minutes the astringency and bitter wood has fallen off thankfully. Some sweet cream rising up in the finish. Pepper intensity remains. Some cinnamon spice playing alongside. Still some bitterness remains. Touchup #2 required and burn line is past the flaw. Hope that's it. It threatened to tunnel and go out on me as I passed through the crack.

I'm coming up on halfway, it's maybe done punching me in the mouth now. Pepper remains but relaxed, bitterness has left. Nice rich earthy notes with some mineral flavors maybe a dark cherry sweetness. I'm no lightweight when it comes to nicotine tolerance, but I'm feeling this one. I'm at exactly 1 hour. This is a slow burning cigar.

The spice level comes and goes. Not one touchup needed since I got past the crack in the wrapper. Right now the pepper is back on with a heavy cayenne sear in my sinuses making my whole face tingle. Still rich earth, slight cream, slight sweetness.

Hour and a half I'm starting to taste a tarry buildup but could work at purging n stuff to run this another 30-45 minutes. I don't like to smoke any longer than this. I'm kinda bored and ready to do something else and the flavors are going downhill so I'm calling it quits now.

Tl:dr started bitter and astringent with big pepper, pepper remained while it transitioned to a more sweeter earthy tone, some sweet cream came through. A flaw in the wrapper created some issues, it was extremely slow-burning and at a bit over1.5 hours I put it down.

My guess is yard gar, and made by My Father.

Alright, Sorry for the delay. Been dealing with issues related to my shoulder brake from getting rear ended last October and had a bunch of Dr and Lawyer appts yesterday.

The damage from Cheno is...

The 3 Scooby Doo Mysteries are all in cello and i wont take them out till i am about to smoke

MC 1 - Looks like a Corona to me, closed foot, Lighter wrapper Poss Connecticut or Habano
MC 2 - Toro, Darker Wrapper appears to be a Maduro Cello is dated Dec 22
MC 3 - Box Pressed Toro, Maduro looking wrapper but its a bit lighter and a little more red

Sealed Envelop as well which i will assume has the cheat codes so that is tucked away until all 3 are reviewed. i have no expectation that i will get any of them correct and will probably not even have a good tasting notes review because i am not good at that stuff but i still want to play along as i like a good surprise. Spoilers are the worst!!

The hichikers

AB Prensado Robusto that appears to have a few years rest on it.
Cuban Stock Royal Toro, I have had this before maybe from a past trade? Really enjoyed it.
AJ New World Maduro Toro, Big Fan of thse
Ave Maria Robusto
Montesino with some age, to be honest cant help but think this came from my stock to begin with from a trade? lol. would be hilarious if true, i am a fan so will enjoy either way.
Crux Limitada Gunner New to me, only had 1-2 Crux in the past so looking forward to trying this
The Reckoning - Shaggy foot Never had or heard of but looks intriguing so may need to be the first i try outside of the Mystery cigars.

Thanks Cheno! Cant wait to Dig in!!!!!

Lighting up Mystery Cigar 1 right now
