The ol nightshift brain taking over again. Fell asleep around 10p woke up at 0230 wide awake ready to go. Avoided screwing around on my phone for 2 hours hoping I'd get back to sleep but clearly that did not happen.

Finally fell DEEP asleep around 0600. You know, the sun comes up that's everybody's natural cue to fsll asleep. Dreaming, sweating, confused by what my alarm was and where I was. Gotta get up now.

I decided to break the rules and not notice the no smoking sign by the patio where the grills are. I can smoke up some grease splatters but not a cigar? Fuggit I'll apologize and walk away if needed. Wasn't needed. I'll do it again tomorrow. Makes vacation so much better not depriving myself of a small luxury I indulge in at home.

I'm like 15 miles from you. I am free tonight? Want to herf tonight? I could pick you up where you are staying and take you to "the world's largest cigar store". Back to the hotel on time. I'll PM my phone number so you can call me if you want to...

^Yes. I wholeheartedly concur. I try to go to amusement parks on days they won't be as crowded, if I can do it.

Like I said... when I went to Universal Orlando even the popular rides like Harry Potter's Wizarding World weren't that bad, and most of the coasters (which I love) were short lines and we did multiple runs.

One of my son’s favorite memories at an amusement park was when he was about 10 years old, seeing two, two hundred pound men jammed into a small carriage at the beginning of Mister Toad’s Wild Ride.

Appreciate the offer but gotta pass, if I were down for a gridlife or personal trip, yes. But I can't fairly leave the family behind to do something solo. We got plans the rest of the week.

So, wait... what? You're going to the mountains of France instead? You still got a long flight ya know. Unless you're taking a boat over.

My wife has been wanting to go to Europe. Not exactly sure where but I, too, am not fond of long flights. I'd rather just fly across the gulf of Mexico to Cancun... and go fishing. BigGrin

There are reasonable fares for repositioning trips that run between Florida and Spain/England.

Boy and his grampa are both train nuts, into train history and stuff. Did a web search before we came down to see if there was any train themed stuff to do like a model railroad display or a real train museum.

Found one 30 minutes away in Winter Garden. Real small place, but had a lot more stuff to look at than I expected. Lots of little artifacts, pictures and info plaques to read. We spent a couple hours there. Thought it would be a 20 minute visit. Boy bought a book. Best part no rat tax, free admission and the book was only $5.

Came back, boy did some homework and then swam a while. I tried but it was too cold for me. It's only 5 degrees warmer than home today...

Waiting on the beef to thaw so I can press some patties and make burgers.

Scottsdale is nice in the spring. There are 15 MLB teams playing within 5-30 minutes of us and the weather is perfect. It's July-August we need to be reverse snow birds unless we decide to buy another mountain house. (not really looking until interest rates drop)

I tried to get the wife to book the France trip around the summer Olympics so we could catch a few events but we are going in August this trip.

Burgundy mainly. Thinking of side trips while there. I figure as long as I have to spend that long on a plane we might as well make the trip a little longer.

I'm not a big fan of flying especially on long flights. It's not the flying part that bothers me - except being trapped in close quarters in uncomfortable seats and bad food for a long time. I'm fine flying on planes. It's the whole process of checking in, waiting in line to get inspected, hanging out at the airport to catch the plane. Then if you have a layover and have to change planes that adds to the suck factor. If weather complicates flight travel and having to switch planes, canceled flights, overbooked flights or even miss the connecting flight that adds even more to the suck factor.

We need someone or something to develop a safe and reliable teleport thingy like in Star Trek.

How much soda, juice or water to I have to drink to minimize the suck factor? Plus then you have to get up and use the plane bathroom - adds to the suck factor.

It's the not having any control or say in the process from the time you park until the time you leave that bothers me the most. Add that to my hatred of crowds and being cooped up in a metal tube with strangers, it's just a horrible experience overall.

I will gladly drive up to 12 hrs over flying. Beyond 12 hours, I'll deal with the bullchit

I've ordered a bunch of cigars while I've been away. They always ship surepost, starts ups and gets dropped off at usps for final delivery. With my hold mail for a week I thought it was perfect. Boxes get held, wife doesn't have a chance to bitch at me, I pick em up when we get back.

Doorbell camera went off a couple hours ago. I ignored it but wife checked and told me UPS just dropped off two boxes. WTF. I checked the shipping and tracking email - surepost. Why the hell they go all the way to my house?

Texted brother in law asked if he could drive up and grab em for me. Thankfully he did. Mother in law coming tomorrow to feed n water the cat but not till afternoon and it was 63 degrees today at home so it's gonna be dewy if not rainy tonight. Plus I don't like the idea of leaving expensive things sitting out on my porch n stuff.

My then gf (now wife) and I went down to AZ specifically for Spring Training. Was either 1992 or 93. Brewers were playing in Chandler. We also went to the home parks for the Giants and Angels.

That was when you could actual talk with the players through a chain link fence and the seats on the third base side, five rows up I think were $5 apeice. We loved it.

I’ve flown 750,000 miles in my career. Just accept the pain, it’s easier.

Houston Astros spring training is two hours south of here. Road trip!

I’m gonna have to let go of my Giants alliance
