Enjoyed last night's Passover Seder at my wife's bosses home (since neither of our kids and my home). We have had our own Seder for almost 30 years and this time was the first time we went to someone elses home. Wierd.

Four ceremonial cups of wine. The welcoming of a vist from the Prophet Elijah. Lots of good foods: Brisket, Matzoh balls and a bunch of other traditional foods. Lots of FINE wines. Next Year in Jerusalem!

Cigars too, but not for me. Just wasn't into the selection...

**** mansion+++. 10,000+ sq ft. Furniture and decorator had to have been like $500k.

That sounds really cool, especially in the mansion. I hope you and your wife enjoyed it. May I ask a stooopit question? It’s about the wine. I know it is ceremonial. Do you drink 4 full servings? Or do you just have a sip and that’s “good enough “. If there is an alcoholic or T-totaler, do they have an option that still gets them under the wire? Isn’t lamb the meat usually served?
I guess that’s a passel of stupid questions. You don’t need to answer them, I won’t be offended if you don’t.

I was kinda, sorta wondering the same thing.

The other questions I had for Robert are, “Does your wife’s boss know you’re a cigar smoker? If so, what was his reaction when you declined to smoke?”

I’mma guessing there weren’t any Cubans or iffin’ there were, only a buncha Jose Piedra’s, Quai d’Orsay’s, Quintero’s and the like.

I am not offended in any way at all.

Traditionally, one would drink four, filled-over-the-brim, ceremonial goblets (Kiddush cup), after a little too much is over-poured and rolls down the sides- it is a blessing for the symbolism that one's "cup runneth over. The four glasses would be consumed over about a four hour ceremonial meal. But, only Orthodox Jews would certainly drink four (cups).

We aren't Orthodox, and we definitely don't drink four glasses of wine. Just sips or gulps (if it's good!). As to an alcoholic or t-totaler: Simply use ceremonial grape juice ("fruit of the vine").

The roasted lamb shank symbolizes the lamb shanks Jews used to mark their doors with lamb blood before the 10th Plague so that they would be spared from: "The Death of the First Born." It is not eaten by anyone I know, but could be eaten by some Orthodox sects.

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.

I love my kids more than one can imagine but my Son (who is not the best at cooking) wants to make tacos and stuff for dinner tomorrow. No worries go for it. I support your effort to learn how to cook beyond box mac and cheese or ramen noodles. We have plenty of food to cook so start with easy stuff. Cooking flavorful and healthy day to day stuff is not that hard nor requires a lot of time.

Asian food or pizza delivery is a backup plan but I didn't say that to him. I support his desire to learn how to cook but it's always good to have a backup plan.

The kitchen might be a mess but part of cooking is cleaning up the dishes and stuff. That's part of the deal so I got that going for me

I kinda overspent on a mower. But every time I have to mow I'm so glad I did. I can almost finish with 1 cigar.

Oh man, completely forgot about that one!

I can’t remember the last time I had one but also don’t know when’s the last time I saw one in a bakery. My guess is that there are too many “wannabe” bakers (e.g., in-store bakeries) and the true old-time ones are few and far in-between so the wannabes make the popular, fast sellers rather than a wide variety that shows their expertise and artistry.

Fo’ sure I’mma gonna hafta look for a BC doughnut next time I”mma in a real bakery. Thanks Jeff!

One mom surgery down, another one scheduled for next eeek.
The bright spot of today was helping out an old high buddy with a physical therapy appointment.

Having a cigar now, watching some soccer.
