Random thought and a practice I use sometimes. Sick of junk mail in your mail box? All of those credit card offers, insurance offers and stuff... Save them. Many come with prepaid bulk mail envelopes.

Save up all the junk mail and those prepaid envelopes. Then cram as much junk mail into the prepaid envelope that can fit. Junk mail, pieces of cardboard, extra metal washers and what ever fits in there to add weight then mail it back in the prepaid mail envelope. Let the junk mail companies soak up the extra costs for junk mail delivery being returned to them.

Sad to say, my junk mail has decreased. I almost like to get junk mail since postal workers need to get paid to deliver junk mail.

These days my junk mail rarely comes with prepaid envelopes. They must have wised up and no longer bear that expen$e. RollEyes

But then again, iffin’ I hafta put a stamp on, I’d be less apt to send it in.

So I heard that the Mayport exchange has some Henry McKenna... Might have to ride over to the other side of town today.

The NAS Jax exchange, from what I understand, is the one that orders and receives the alcohol shipments and then distributes some to Mayport (which is smaller).

went for a walk this morning...weird, but I noticed an unusual shadow on the ground in front of, and to the right, of my shadow...it kept up with me and my shadow for several blocks...I finally looked up, thinking someone was using a drone to track me...my wife went to Ohio for a week to visit an old friend from her childhood neighborhood...maybe she asked someone to keep an eye on me...WTF??? there was a small cloud in the sky above and behind me, to my left...I continued to walk, but then the shadow was gone...I looked up behind me and the cloud had disappeared...hmmmmm...weird...

Breakfast & coffee down, Kuba taking her post walk nap.
Starting to get quotes for replacing a retaining wall. Learned I’d get a better result if a gnarled group of younger maples get removed along with an estimated 120 year old oak tree.

To make it all more complicated, all of these trees look to be right on the property line. Chatting with the neighbor this morning.

Would like to keep the trees ideally. What I want to avoid the most is sticking thousands of dollars on wall only to have trees fall over and uproot the wall.

It will all work itself out.

Morning folks. Dog walked, back and biceps day at the gym... I did 5 strong pullups, another 2 good ones and the eighth was kinda weak. Next set I got 5 good ones, last set only 3, but I am getting better.

Made a protein shake with water, a lot of spinach, a lot of blueberries, a half cup of cottage cheese and 2 scoops of protein powder.

Wife is making beef adobo with chuck roast meat. Will certainly meet the protein goal today. BigGrin

Tank decided he doesn't like the Costco kibble anymore. Now the mofo wants the blue buffalo chit which is 1/3 more expensive. Bastid.

Jokes on him... I'm mixing in the Costco chit until it's gone.

Today marks the beginning of my third week at my new job.

It took a little getting used to. As on OTR driver getting paid by the load made it hammer down all the time for 2 reasons. One was to get rid of a load, then in the paperwork and hurry to get another load to maximize earnings. Another because it seemed like the only way to meet schedules was to hurry as much as possible.

Here it’s completely the opposite. My company doesn’t want the drivers to hurry. Anytime I leave one site to go to another parting words always include something along the lines of be safe. The idea being it’s much cheaper to pay a driver for the extra time it takes to be safe than to pay for damages caused by being in a hurry. In fact most of the time I drive well below the speed limit since we have all sorts of sensors in the trucks that in real time notifies a number of people if I’m following too close to another or if I roll through a stop sign (I learned about stop sign algorithm my first day).

In addition everyone is nice to everyone else. It’s like one big happy family. Everyone greets everyone. And they do so by first name. Even if it’s someone I just met for the first time it’s always the same. It’s also genuine, not contrived.

Needless to say it’s the most stress free job I’ve ever had. Being that I only have to drive 3/10’s of a mile from my house to clock in is worth its weight in gold.

In addition I’m eating good food. Yesterday was the first day I ate truck stop food. Usually I grab a meal that consists of something I cooked then froze the leftovers. When I was over the road 98.2% of what I ate was a very, very limited diet of truck stop slop.

Gotta say taking this job was probably one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

Anthony, great news on the improved quality of life. You only get one go-around, make it a good one!

MACS... Been there, done that. Ask the Safelite guy how many times that happens and he will probably roll his eyes at you.

Good Friday Afternoon to All! It's 83° on the way to 85° today.

Roasted coffee and hooked up a buddy with the parts leftover from building my coffee roaster and my proposed upgrades. Once I got my roaster working well I was done, it works great for me. I roast 800 grams of coffee and can do more if needed. It's great to have the space back in my garage and seeing the parts go into another roaster.

Anthony it sounds like a great place to work. Lowering costs of insurance saves a lot of $$$ and allows a well run company to pay better by sharing some of the savings. Applause Applause Applause

Just got two bids for the annual trim of the uugg mesquite tree in the front, $325 and $350. I decided to do it myself this year. Went to HD and bought a Ryobi pole trimmer which extends to 9' for $200. Gonna pay for itself tomorrow.

Got a palm in the front yard that needed trimming. $35 curved hand saw from HD. Put the fronds out by the curb and they picked 'em up.

Mother in law called a tree service to trim a tree that overhangs their house. They told her tree is dying, needs to come down. $6300 and if she signs today they'll grind the stump for free. Wtf?!

I'm in the wrong business.

I thought about posting 14 times in a row and then creating the "500 Ways to Be an Outlaw" 500.

But Ram already has a lot on his hands dealing with Boo-Dro's outlaw 500.

You should never have to deal with that much at once.

You guys have a good weekend.

Fired up a PAM 64, poured myself a glass of bourbon and sat in the sunroom... AC going, Ceiling fan on and exhaust fan going. Stayed nice and cool and not even a wee bit smokey.

Works like I planned it. BigGrin

Of course, it was only in the 80's... we'll see how well it works when it's in the 90's. Should be okay, though.

There is a new idea being studied about cancer, it is a form of diabetes. This started based the following information. Non-Hodgkins large cell lymphoma is presently uncurable. Some people with this form of cancer who greatly reduce their carb intake, exercise, and lose weight go into remission. This is being studied at Mayo clinic or Clevland clinic, I forget which one. This occurred with someone who was once a good friend of mine. I do not know how he is doing as we no longer are on speaking terms.

Went to Costco and bought a 23.8lb prime brisket.

Trimmed, rubbed, n wrapped in the fridge overnight.

Walked through the woods down to the swamp at the edge of my property to measure the posts in my woodshed. It's just one of those tarp over pole things. I want to put sheeting on the inside so I can stack edge to edge and fit more wood in there. As it is I have tapered wood stacks but can only go about 4ft high. If I sheet the sides the wood can go to the edges and taper towards the roof and I can fit more.

Tomorrow's project. The boys already complaining about stacking wood.
