I got a small box. Standard shipping. They charged $16.50.

Why so much?

Normally I would crack on you for being here so long and now finally coming in to say hi…..

But, you need to call customer service.
That is definitely too much for one small box, according to current cbid shipping rates.

Wait a minute Bob!
How many and what items, were in the box!
I assumed one box of cigars.
Pretty sure I assumed wrong!

size of box is irrelevant, how many items? what was the cost of shipping listed on the most expensive to ship item? you will pay that plus the below depending on the number of items. if you ordered an items with $10 shipping, then another several items then it could easily hit 16 for shipping a "small" box.

Each product contains a unique shipping charge, which is listed in the description of each lot. However, our Shipping Savings Program allows you greater savings when you win more than one item.

Shipping Cost of Additional Units
Instead of paying individual shipping charges for each product, multiple items shipped to the same address won during the same shipping period (either DAILY or WEEKLY), only the greater of the shipping charges apply, plus an amount for each additional item:

Singles Category: $0.25
5-Packs Category: $0.50
Boxes Category: $1.00
Merchandise Category: $1.00
Samplers Category: $1.00
Free Fall Category: $1.00
All Others: $1.00

In essence, CBid is a smart business entity. They do what they’re supposed to, that is, list up relatively inexpen$ive individual shipping prices so you can’t claim you didn’t know. However, they also know that the vast majority of their customers don’t factor in the compound shipping costs while they’re shotgun bidding.

With that being said, I wonder what the gross profit margin is on CBid’s shipping charges. Think

Bob in Vermont,

$16 sounds high.

Post your order here (screen capture form the CBid site) so we can see what and how much you bought. Might be a clue as to why your order shipping was higher than expected.

Depends, did you have multiple orders in one box? Did you not notice the different choices for shipping and various prices?

He’ll be back, might be 2033 though as he’s only allowed 1 post per decade.
