Around that time Trump accused Obama of wire tapping (or some such phrase) his building. (not quite right, but...see further down).
After that, there were denials of that happening, legal scholars explaining why it could not be done even by direct Presidential edict...followed by claims that The Donald was not a target.
So, I am good wif words, but not so good wif numbahs, but I did the math anyway and came up with this:
Trump was actually not the target of surveillance, but so many around him were that he was caught like a dolphin in a tuna net...people being watched had lots of contact/business/politics with him that tons of stuff...perhaps phone calls, conversations, maybe EMAILS (!), all sorts of stuff could have been incriminating against Trump because he was in on so many.
So, yes, he ended up being involved in lots of info gathering, but mostly due to the surveillance of his many possibly co-opted associates, not because he was the target of the investigation.Collateral damage as it were.
All this before he became elected. My concerns became not of election rigging, but of Russian influence gained/bought/blackmailed on U.S. Policy, beginning with but not ending the eroding confidence in the Democratic Process. A huge gain for Russia if they can make that happen.
Ironically, Trump originally said the election was rigged and would not accept the results when he thought he would lose! Certainly that casts doubt in a percentage of his supporters.
He talked of his admiration for Putin as a strong leader. Setting the stage for future moves?
He selected several people for positions and/or nominations for positions that shape U.S. policy...despite having been told of concerns that one or more of these picks were potentially in position to be "coerced" or blackmailed by Russia, more than one of whom who hid meetings and income derived from Russia.
I hope it all ends up like The Whitewater Investigation of insider info on a FAILED real estate deal that morphed into guys who cheated on their wives scolding the sitting President on infidelity.
But the potential stakes, and they are only potential, for real damage to us is greater than in the denial of oral sex.
Believe me or not, this is a connect the dots kind of thing for me. Despite my admitted liberal tendencies, I am rooting for the country to rally and avoid contentious conclusions, though many here seem to know that us libs are drooling in anticipation of this blowing up.
You'd be wrong. We love America too. That's why I hope my theory is wrong, but it just seems right to me...until a lot more info is released.
And it's kind of fun!
I like it.
But I disagree on certain key aspects.
Let's say you're correct. Trump was surveyed collaterally. So is it Russia or the US intelligence who will blackmail him?
Let's say the Russians did have dirt. So what? Anything short of murder or drowning puppy dogs won't matter. Literally won't matter. Nobody thinks he's dealing arms, so what are we honestly talking about? Insider trading (gasp!).
What kind of dirt could they realistically have?
And remember: without even knowing what kind of dirt, the left is already frothing
Or let's say the guys he's surrounded by were Russian lackies. So what? I love how Trump gets ridiculed when people thought he'd hire unqualified schmucks. But when he hires people with foreign connections he's now in danger of being an insider? In cahoots?
I know Frankie bag-a-donuts loves America.
But the liberal media would rather have a sensational alternative fact headline then a boring actual truth.
