I moved during the election cycle, and couldn't vote here in this county because I didn't register here before the deadline...didn't think about it...I went to register at the end of October, when our mail-in ballot wasn't forwarded, but didn't realize there was a 17 day period before the registration became effective...
So I went back to the poll place in my old neighborhood on election day, explained my predicament. They said I had to fill out a provisional ballot that would require verification. PITA. Lucky I am retired. I wouldn't have the time. Now I know how effective the
voting restriction laws can be to suppress voting. My fault because I didn't keep up with the voting laws, just like the supporters hope will happen to the uninformed electorate, mostly Dems...
It would be easy to set up a digital secure voting database in each state, that might increase efficiency, replacing the current paper based model. Might even pay for itself, or save a lot of money because we won't need as many clerks to maintain the records.
