I have stated above (somewhere) that I would not be troubled by showing an ID, and that 30-something states do require some form...so they are allowed. Boston Globe pointed out that voting (so far) is not hackable.
But you'd like the untrustworthy government to start an ID program to keep potential violations of rampant fraud less likely than the bare minimum that have been recorded historically? Are you sure? Do you trust them to do it right?
I know our comparisons have been meaningless on this thread, but there are ways of preventing even more rampant crime, but I don't think most would like them.
