Sad. Sickening.
Any thoughts before the shooter is identified and his unknown motive is determined?

I wonder if you're allowed to carry in that particular mall? There are some posted no carry in Columbus. While I'm not particularly concerned for my safety inside, the parking lot is another thing.

You in my neighborhood? I'm concerned for my wife and kids at easton at night. That's why you carry everywhere.

My thoughts are... people need to be able to protect themselves from this. Carry.
All states should be "shall issue" states. If there is no reason you should not have a CCW (felony, domestic violence, crazy) you should be issued one. And it shouldn't be cost prohibitive, and it shouldn't be difficult.

Human life is meaningless to many people. It is a paradigm shift we have witnessed in our lifetime. Though has this always been the case and the shift in social media and media coverage has caused more people to act out?

According to the homeland security tactical instructor who taught our active shooter class sharp enough to know it's harder to sort out who the bad guy is if they here are multiple guns in play.

True, it would be much easier for the police if when they arrived, the perp is already leaking due to a someone who is proficient with their weapon and chose to exercise their right to bear arms.

Possible yes, and I love my guns. But he went in to a pretty lengthy discussion about active shooter situations (active) and the difficulty of distinguishing between the good guys and bad guys when multiple guns are involved. He distinguished between citizens and law enforcement and acknowledged problems with each especially plain clothed. . He also talked at length about how law enforcement mitigated the issue amongst each other by training together and certain tactics including working in teams rather than solo (they won't go it alone) . Citizens joining the firefight or build up to a potential firefight were problematic to him. He used multiple case files to illustrate.
I didn't get the sense he was anti 2nd amendment, just pragmatic. I'm not even sure he contradicted any pro gun folks. Even when carrying go away from the trouble until you can't. He never suggested not protecting yourself but did state the obvious that the more guns involved in a real time active shooting the more difficult it is for him and his team.

Also even if the perp is dead or bleeding they still don't know if that's the bad guy or a good citizen which is complicated by more guns. That (as you know better than I ) takes some sorting too.
None of this is by any means anti carry. I gots mine lol. It's just reality and some (not you A) just see the rainbows and lollipops with guns.

Concealed carry has a defensive purpose once you go on the offensive all bets are off.

I like to watch this guys videos. Most are security camera footage that show real world situations, he then breaks them down on what was done correctly and done wrongly.
If anything ever happens my weapon won't be drawn until I am directly confronted by the threat. Practice drawing your weapon folks.

I'm guessing you were never on the
African CONTINENT in the 1970's & 80's to mid 90's?
Freakin' BOY SOLDIERS were the NORM.
THEY HAD NO RESPECT FOR LIFE.
During any "OP" the rule was engage ( preferably surpressed) them first...
"When seen" and drop those little bastids
Where they stood.
Then Ruwanda where the tribes just went krazy
Cookoo on one another...
Russia and China have always HAD BRUTAL
OPPRESSION.
South America, Central America and Mexico...
The locals will off you for $50 bucks or
Whatever is in your wallet and car.
I think what you meant to SAY was
"America has finally morphed into what the rest
Of the world has always been".
It may be a "paradigm shift" here in America
But it's the
"Same old ...same old" in the places mentioned above and many more.
