It may be that I'm in the distinct minority, but I think the last couple of days have given us some fantastic baseball games ... yesterdays games made me think of '86 when every game in both the ALCS and the NLCS made you think that it was the best game you'd ever seen ... yet somehow, each game in both series AND in the WS was better yet ...

These series might not have started out to be quite at that level, but they're sure there right now ...

I have not been too interested in baseball since the strike and since my Reds ownership seems more interested in pinching pennies rather than fielding a competitive team. However I was riveted to the TV for that Sox-Yanks game last night. It's a shame that it overlapped the Stros-Cards game because that was a dandy, too.

I absolutely agree with this thread. Best baseball games in years. Also, a great boondoggle for FOX sports. They'll usually get 3.5 - 4 hours out of a nine inning game anyway by stretching the between inning commercials to 2.5 minutes, but their wildest dreams must have been realized by all the extra inning games in this year's ALCS. That aside, I haven't watched such great baseball in a long time.

another great game tonight ... like I said, just when you thought it couldn't get better, it does ...

I'm looking forward to a pair of great games tomorrow and a great WS ...

It sure has ... and so has the NLCS ... those games have just received less attention ... I continue to be reminded of '86, which as I said (above) was to my way of thinking the best post-season ever.

The ONLY thing that could've made '86 better would've been Buckner making the out on Mookie Wilson to end game 7 ... on the other hand, if he'd done so, the hype and attention of the just-completed Sox/Yanks series wouldn't have been so great nor would it have been as satisfying, would it?

That said, I'm now torn ... I've predicted a Cardinal win in the NLCS and a BoSox win over them in the Series, but on the other hand, should Houston prevail, I'm contemplating the joy of beating Clemons who would almost certainly pitch a seventh game (if there is to be one) in the Fens ...

go BoSox !!

Gotta say, this is one of the best of all ALCS playoffs! The NLCS is equally as exciting, and I am looking for Roger Rocket to pitch a great game today and lead the Astros to the World Series against the BoSox!

I picked the Red Sox at the start of the season, but I had given up on them after the first three games of ALCS with NYY! Wow, what a comeback! One of the greatest of all sports comebacks! Almost like they found "Roy Hobbs" in their lineup for those last 4 games!
