Jerry Rice got his wish last night when the Oakland Raiders traded him to the Seattle Seahawks.
The trade will be finalized today after Rice undergoes a physical and the league gives its approval. The Raiders received a conditional seventh-round draft choice.

Good thing Koren Robinson is facing a suspension otherwise Geritol Jerry would be out of a job.

They go from a guy who can run but can't catch to a gut who can catch but can't run.

Hang um up Jerry before your ego makes a fool out of you.

Bill Walsh has been urging him to do just that for at least 2 years now ... he CAN still go with dignity, but not if he waits much longer ... it'd be tough to have our last memories of him being like the memories some of us have of Willie Mays in those final Mets days ...

Arguably the best WR gets traded for a conditional 7th round draft pick... unbelievable. Hang it up Jerry... Hang it up.

That being said, he could still probably run circles around 1/2 the WR's in the league today.

Chip,

I guess you havent seen him play recently. He couldnt even run cirlces around his Raiders teamates. There was a reason he was left out of the Raiders game plans.

touche!

Being 5th on their depth chart you don't really see him on the field much. Plus, the batteries in his "Rascal" may not have been fully charged for each game ;)

I think that he will be the most consistent WR on the Hawks.

If he could get open then yes he may be the most consistent in cathing the ball. Mainly because the Seasquawks current set of receivers couldn't catch the ball if it had handles. But I dont think he will be all that productive. Maybe as a "do the curl pick up a first down take a seat" kinda guy, but thats it.

IMNSHO, he'll do surprisingly well in Seattle ... but he'll have a somewhat limited shelf life ... Jerry thrived in the West Coast Offense, but the Raiders very limited experiment with THAT went south with Gruden, so Jerry hasn't had nearly the opportunity to show his stuff that he might otherwise have had ...

Look for Holmgren to change that ... he's a first generation West Coast protege of Bill Walsh and Jerry will be running familiar routes that will be more condusive to his skills than those the Raiders use.

Jerry will open some eyes in Seattle, but that extends past this year, it almost certainly won't go beyond 2005 ...

Steve Largent approves of his jersey number to be brought out of retirement.

I think he'll do well as long as he doesn't get injured. The leadership is needed in the clubhouse.

He should be a coach, not a player! He is finished and will probably get hurt badly!

I hope not, but he should retire!
