LOS ANGELES TIMES COLUMN: BUSH WORST PRESIDENT IN AMERICAN HISTORY
Fri Oct 08 2004 09:46:43 ET

In a LA TIMES column, XXXXXX blasts: "To say that I consider Bush a 'bad' president would be a severe understatement. I think he's bad in a way that redefines my understanding of the word 'bad.'

"I used to think U.S. history had many bad presidents. Now, my 'bad' category consists entirely of George W. Bush, with every previous president redefined as 'good.'

"There's also the fact that, on a personal level, I despise him with the white-hot intensity of a thousand suns. What I'm saying is, advocating Bush is kind of tricky." But "what I'll argue instead is that his very awfulness is the reason he deserves reelection. Begin with the premise that a second-term Bush administration is unlikely to make things a whole lot worse." Bush's presidency "is a great mass of contradictions. There's an enormous gap between his purported values - fiscal discipline, toughness against terrorists, a commitment to social conservatism - and his true record.

"Sure, it would be emotionally satisfying to see Bush rejected by the voters once again. But maybe, for this president, defeat is too kind a fate."

WOW...

Given his reasons for his distain for Bush, I guess every Presidnet in recenty history, or any future Presidents for that matter, would'nt measure up on his little "pissyness for the Pres" scale.

Another one of Ricks unknown authors or should I say invisible playmates. Funny how easy it is when you cut/paste to delete or add words of your choosing. Well as long as no author is listed I guess it's okay.

JonR-

I'll say it before the maven does....

It's COPY and paste. According to Rick there's a difference.

My only problem is he does not give credit to the authors. Who knows, I may really like what this author has to say and may be interested in reading more but I will NEVER know because Rick doesn't give credit. I suppose I could search but that could take forever and I just don't have that much time or interest.

C'mon Rick-give credit to the writers of the stuff you post.

i did not give credit to the author because too many people respond to authors names instead of what they say. they prejudge the article based on the source.
i don't know the la times editorial position on the presidential race, but apparently no one else does because the source has not been scoffed at.

if i said this was written by jimmy breslin, which it wsn't, JonR would respond in his usual fashion, "a drunken whatever."

i think the words are more important then who wrote them.

Yo Rick:

Ahem, the word would be "sot" as in "drunken sot". Also the words "liar", and "hasbeen" apply liberally ( pardon the pun) to jimmy breslin.

Remember what Brother Dave said about Bush: "If you're against it, you're for it." Well, I think he was talking about Bush.
