81862 - Diamond Crown Julius Caeser Toro

Decent flavors for a DR Habano but the burn was wonky and had to keep touching it up 4 times during the 90 minutes smoking time. Thanks to Jeebs for this one.

81864 Crowned Heads Mil Dias from darklord trade.

Another repeat cigar, been trying to smoke something different each time. But the last one plugged and had burn issues so I'm giving myself a pass here.

It's a tasty cigar, but it's a dry texture and heavy on the woodiness that just are not my thing. I wonder if I would like the maduro variant. This is dry wood, maybe could say salted peanut shells, but it reminds me more of the lumber aisle at home depot. There's some hay/barn in there. I dunno. I dont like it. I want to like it. I can tell it's a good cigar, but so few in this style do anything for me but make me a sad panda.

81868 Tatuaje Nuevitas Jibaro no 2 with thanks to jakethesnake. Thought I'd smoked all the JTS cigars but as I was scrounging about in the bottom of my desktop looking for one to occupy an hour or two while my butts rest in the cooler, I noticed this one had a long label on it - usually if the place I got it from is off the beaten path I'll put the shpo name on there to remind myself to check with them again in the future. That's exactly what I was looking for but as I fingered through a few opus I got from that shpo I saw jakethesnake so I gotta finish that one.

Anyway. This is and isn't Tat-like. If it were blind I could probably guess a MF and friends, but the tat pepper is missing. Not muted or mellowed from age, it's a different character from pretty much every other Tat I've smoked. It reminds me of la antiguedad if my memory serves me well which it often doesn't. Earthy flavors reign supreme, beating out the mild pepper on retro. Lots of varied spice notes, a dry but not astringent texture. The yellow cello says this one's had a nap and lost some of its crabbiness. After an ash drop or two some creaminess comes up in the texture but otherwise the flavors are more in the realm I've been enjoying lately and not so much the big punchy bassline I associate with Tats. I do have one negative note: there's a small crack an inch from the head so I have to finger it just right or deepthroat each draw. But I'm flexible for the right one I spose.

I like it. Nice way to spend a few hours waiting for my meat to cool off. The butts went faster than I anticipated, I thought it would go overnight.

81876 - Plascencia Alma del Campo toro from jeebling. This was an excellent cigar. Thanks so much jeebs! I like the other Almas I've tried, but based on this one, these are my new favs. Unlike the LP I had the other day, this was exactly what I think of as criollo - creamy and delicious. My only knock is that now I'm going to buy some and have nowhere to put them.

81877 - Viaje 15th Anni Silver torpedo. Another killer cigar.

Well Jeebs you sent me one too. Thanks again for that. Of all the Alma Plasencia, that's the one i would have chosen first. Most of the reviews peg it as something that is right in my flavor profile preference. Lee's review here just makes it that much more inviting. Ima have to ash that before long

Tiver, I got a fiver of those from the small place. I’ve given 2 to friends and I’m saving the last 3 for myself. They are napping in a safe place. You know, although I joke about having to smoke through a lot of dog rockets, at least they give me something new to try and cheap to smoke while the boutique brands are resting at proper PH.

81882: La Harencia Cubana Toro

The seasonal allergies have my sinuses inflamed and therefore I could not enjoy the peppery and creamy notes I usually get from this cigar. It was good enough with my coffee this morning and that’s plenty good enough when my nose isn’t working.

81883 Fugazi COTY compare to Cuban Cohiba.

It's not gonna confuse anyone about being a Cuban, but it's a good cigar on its own. Rich earthiness, a little twinge of spice on retro, nice creamy texture. Didn't change much by halfway, just turned up. Little more cinnamon burn, little more minerality in the earthy tones. Little more rich creaminess in the texture. Coats my mouth like a bite of dripping brisket and doesn't leave. It's good even without factoring the cheap price.

81887: HdM Excalibur Cameroon King Arthur. No. 19 of 20 from a 2013 box. First few draws instantly reminded me of Laphroiag, so I poured myself some. First third: salty with a hint of leathery cedar. Second third: the saltiness continues but the cedar morphs into a light cinnamon. Final third: still salty, just like a speyside scotch with more intense cinnamon notes. No relights and a perfect burn. I had considered giving up on these old favorites and finding something newer like New World Cameroon, but now I am questioning that crazy talk. Would be interested to know if anyone still keeps around cigars they loved 10-20 years ago. If I bought a box today and stashed it for 5 years will they be similar, good but different or just a disappointment?

81889 LA Barba Ricochet. Another total unknown from darklord trade.

First light not much there but does start off with a nice rich creamy texture. Rarely hit that off the bat. Very mild in flavor though. It's not unlike that RP Decade this morning. Nice texture, pleasant smoke, but nothing interesting. First ash drop it turned up a bit. Little spiciness on retro, rich earthiness. Not sure the makeup of this one. Now that I'm a bit in it's no longer mellow and sweet. It's like a metal song with a slow intro. Now I'm thinking maybe this is a sweet broadleaf under a well aged MSA. There's the metallic earthy filth, but balanced with a sweet richness. It's good but not my jam. Time to look it up.

CBid had 5er samplers of LaBarba last year that included Ricochet..Searched current brands on CBid and nowhere to be found. I have a few sampler 5ers and they were going fairly inexpensively. Maybe $12-$13 on a cheap night

This is my third Tat but all different blends and vitolas. This one was definitely the best one for me. Salty, leathery, long sweet aftertaste and not quite creamy enough but it was there. The middle brought on a salty molasses flavor and in the last third that was replaced with a waffle cone taste. Mineral and berries up to the last third. Strength and body slowly and steadily built until the nub. I enjoyed this. Jake will be so proud of me!

No. 16 of a box of 20. Down to 4 of these and only 2 of the No. 2, which remains my all time favorite cigar.
