One of my best finds. I found it in an antique shop and the price tag on it said, "wood box w/ duck"
I picked it up for $10

Nice box! The inlay work is great. Would be a difficult refurb. with that and the enamel detail. Is it signed or marked by the maker anywhere?

The only thing I would do with the lid, would be to put a clear laquer coat on it and leave the design alone!

Div... thats a Nice one... if you do decide to refinish it... start with one of those 3M sanding blocks 120 or fine grit... then finish out the sanding with 000 steel wool... that should take the laqure back down to the wood and then you can re-apply the stain and polly over that... the inlay doesn't look like it has any mars on it.. but if you wanted to you could smooth it down with the steel wool also... but just enough to do a top coat of polly on it to match up with the newer layer of polly with the rest of it...

that is a Keeper thats for sure... and yes is there someone's name on it??

Very Nice!!!!

Thanks for the coments. When I was showing it off to my local tobacconist, he offered a buttload of cigars for it. Glad I held out.

hog - you mentioned staining before a coat of polly. What kind/color of stain? I figured just a claer coat.
email me if it's a lengthy explaination. [email protected]
thanks

Does that make it a wood duck?
