This is "Jezabelle".

She is a female Jaguar. Jaguars come from South America. She is 19 yrs old.

This spiecies is endangered. She eats fish, chicken, and horse meat. She weighs about 100lbs.

She isnt one of the really big cats, but is impressive and intimidating up close!

She was also born in captivity, but is considered VERY dangerous. Even zoo keepers that have known her for almost all her life cannot go into her display. She would attack and kill a human without hesitation.

A very beautiful, but extremely dangerous animal! I got this nice pic a few days ago.

James, I believe in the wild its about 15-20 yrs, Its a much tougher life out there. In captivity 20-25 yrs.
When these cats get old, It hard to hunt for food, in captivity they can live to a ripe old age because food is no problem.

Mag, If I someday make it out west I'd like to get an insiders view of the zoo. One problem with your narration, I thought jaguars were from Jacksonville?

CJBully, thats funny! If you are ever going to be out here, let me know. I'll see what can be done about a behind the scenes look at the Zoo. It's pretty cool!

Hey, did you guys see that male elk beat the snot out of that moron that put elk lure on himself. It was on "When Animals Attack!!"..lol. I just about died laughing. His wife was video taping the event. Sorry for stealing your post, Mag, but I thought you could appreciate this humorous act.

Isn't it ironic that because the animal is so beautiful is exactly the reason why it is now endangered.

Killing animals for sport is something I will never understand.

Rob,

I agree with you 100%. That is an awesome creature.

Mag,

How about arranging a "Zoo Outing/Herf" in CA?

Just a passing thought...

Regards,

It sounds like cool idea, but I dont know if I can get a group behind the scenes. I can look into it. No promises, but it may be possible.

We do have a park which is connected with the zoo. Smoking is allowed in the park and the zoo.

An outdoor hurf/BBQ would be cool and we all could tour the zoo as others do. It may be a nice idea for the spring or summer!

There is a very good possibility that it could be done!

I will look into it. If enough people want to go it would be fun!
