most any beverage that is sipped...I know that sounds a little sissy, don't mean it that way, but a drink that is gulped (beer) doesn't do the taste buds any favors while you are enjoying the smoke. Try sipping (not shooting) tequila. Scotch is another favorite.
Enjoy

Yes gramps; scotch, a good tequila (my favorite is El Tesoro Anejo) and sometimes a good strong German doublebock beer goes nicely with a cigar; also, a VSOP or XO congnac is nice.

To me that's kinda like the question "what's the best cigar?". It's not really a matter of "best", it's a matter of taste; more specifically what YOU like. Back when I used to drink, I'd enjoy a stronger cigar with a glass of red wine (a good cab or zin went really well). For a treat, usually after dinner or late at night, I'd have some port in a snifter and do the lil' smoke trick thingy... take a puff off the cigar and blow it real slow into the goblet... the smoke will settle in the glass. Then swirl the goblet and the beverage gets somewhat infused with the flavor of the cigar. (looked really cool too!) These days, plain old chilled bottled water or sparkling water with a lime are my fav's. Keeps my palate (and mind!) clean to enjoy the full flavor of the cigar.
Enjoy!

Agreed, I also have found several hot teas that are strong enough to hold up to a cigar.

agree that it's a matter of taste ... and mine tends to vary from one day to the next ... among my favorites are single malt scotch, port, cognac, red wines (reds are ALWAYS best at room temp*), a full bodied ale ... but a diet Pepsi or an iced tea are pretty common choices for me too ...

* the best means of achieving optimum 'room temp' is to chill the red wine in the fridge (or, in Arkansas, the icebox), then remove the cork (or, in Arkansas, unscrew the cap) and allow it to sit for about 2 hours ...

For me, ice water is the best compliment for cigars. It cleanses the palate between draws and doesn't interfere with the taste of a fine cigar.

I can't think of anything I enjoy more with my cigars than a few pints of Guinness :)

Honestly? The best beverage with a fine cigar is either a Coke, or a glass of fruit juice.

The acids in the drink will cleanse your palate without interfering with the taste of the cigar ...

St. Arnolds Brown Ale. Compliments all cigars.

El Tesoro Anejo is fantastic, but with a cigar I prefer Gran Marnier, straight, slightly warm in a brandy snifter.

If you have a lot of extra cash, far and away The Best is Louis XIII. At about $1000 for a Waterford Crystal bottle it makes a nice drink. Its made with aged Cognac's that are 40-100 + years old.

Fer us wurkin klas fokes, Shiner Bock is always a good stand by.
