Nice to have closure on that. You'll have to have a nice smoke/drink to celebrate.

Wife has a friend in town from San Diego. She's dragging us (at least me) to a wedding today. Oh... yay. Awww, well... my wife is always a good hostess when my friends come to visit, so I guess I have to be a good host. Angel

Happy Saturday dudes.

Going to a dinner tonight with old friends. Three couples, all of which are enophiles (winos) so bringing a few good bottles to share. Each couple will bring one mystery bottle and we have to guess what grapes and region. We have done this a few times and it's always a fun evening.

I welcome a Saturday.

Kind of yucky overcast morning with some rain but the Sun is supposed to burn it off this afternoon to get to the mid 50's for today and tomorrow. Maybe I'll fill the grow bags on the deck with soil in anticipation of planting the plants in a few weeks. It's still too early to put them out as the danger of overnight frost is still a real possibility.

DED, enjoy the wine tasting. I used to love those back in the day. There was a restaurant in Madison, WI where I went to college that would do wine tasting every Friday night. Italian restaurant and a wine cellar. We'd go there and eat then go downstairs to the wine cellar (they had a small lounge and bar downstairs) for wine tasting. For reds I liked a dry Merlot. For whites I preferred Liebfraumilch. At the time I didn't know all the differences of what is what but I learned through blind taste testing and my preference was dry for red and semisweet for white. However, it also depends on what you match it with for what your are eating too.

I don't drink wine anymore but still cook with it. "Cooking" wine should be tossed in the trash. It's nothing more than crappy wine with salt and stuff added. If the recipe calls for wine, get a real bottle of wine and use that.

Yesterday was difficult for all involved. The wages for my moms tumble down the hill came to torn ligaments in, and a dislocation of her elbow. In pain, with pain killers not making a dent, a huge, heavy arm brace paired with near non existent sleep made it tough for everyone.

Need to find some joy today.

Nothing extraordinary today. Going to do a little work on the aquarium. Passover Seder (ceremonial dinner) is coming and my wife is making gefilte fish so we are going to the fish market to buy the right stuff. Then, we'll probably head down to the outlet stores where I have a $200 credit at Brooks Brothers. That should get me like four or five new spring/summer shirts. Thereafter, I plan to watch UFC- possibly while on the Vherf if anyone is up to joining me.

We are back home after our vacation. We went to the following national parks, Kings Canyon, Sequioa, and Redwood. We toured quite a few wineries and usually ate good food at one of them for dinner. Our weather today will be sunny, 74 degrees, and 55% humidity. I am working on the spring flower garden beds today.

I think we're going to relax today even though we have a lot of projects that need completed.

Going to make a bunch of Chinese food, eat all I want and then maybe have a cigar.

I feel for you and a prayer sent for your Mom. I'm not looking forward to getting old. More prone to injuries and less prone to healing from them.

On another note, if I could go back in time and try to change things that I did, I'm not sure I would. My history has made me who I am for good or bad.

We'll OK, one change... don't slide into 2nd base at beer softball game resulting in a broken ankle that still talks to me. Maybe go in head first... but then it might have resulted in a broken wrist or nose. Yeah, I'll deal with the arthritis in the ankle rather than a disfigured face or a hand that doesn't work right.

Nope. I love the heat. Gimme 85 degrees any time. I don't mind dripping sweat sitting still. I do hate when my hands and feet are cold which is 9 months of the year.

Went out to go to menards to get oil to change oils in the yard tools. Stopped at the grocery store to see if they had any lean beef roasts to grind for new jerky experimentation. Got 11lbs top round for $40. That should keep me busy for a while. Already portioned it out to 2lb packages and vac sealed em for the freezer. Got 2lbs in a bowl in the freezer firming up for grinding. Made 3 different seasoning blends to make 3 different flavors of beef sticks.

I forgot about the oil changing. Maybe later.

Good Saturday evening to All! Had a fun trip down into Georgia today, another benchers match. Mrs Gene came in eighth and I managed to get sixth, apparently a two+ hour drive before a match isn't conducive to accuracy, that's my story. LOL

I mowed even tho I said I was gonna wait for warmer weather tomorrow. 38s not too cold as long as I dress for it, right?

I'm an idiot. Should've waited. Even though I wore heavy gloves, warm hat, 2 coats, and wool socks my fingers and toes were completely numb by the end and now they're on fire.

Cranked up the heat in the garage to 80 to thaw out.

I mowed today... bermuda is coming back while the winter grass is dying from the heat. I wish I knew how the golf courses around here stay green and lush during the transition... they prolly just paint it all green for a few weeks.

Wedding was actually pretty nice. Reception was fun. Was at a Catholic church right around the corner from the Black Bean Deli in Orlando.

2 hour drive, 6 hours of wedding/reception, 2 more hours of driving. I was tired.
