To antagonize Lee further, what cigars did you smoke last year that you didn't like? Mebbe, mebbe not bad but not a smoke you would search out and buy?

For me:

AF Mag R58 - luckily I only bought a 5er so 4 more to go
Oliva Saison First Harvest 2011 - just ok but nothing to write home about
Joya de Nicaragua Antaño Dark Corojo Azarosa - see above
Punch (NC) Bareknuckle Belicoso - had some major wrapper issues so had a negative experience with it
Stolen Throne Call to Arms Robusto - for some reason, Sumatra wrappers aren't in my wheelhouse

Luckily didn't smoke anything that was downright bad so gotta count my lucky stars.

This is easier.

Oliva Serie V corona
Oliva Serie V special figurado
Oliva Serie V 135th Anniversary
Oliva Serie V short torpedo

I would like to try the V maduro. Just as an experiment to see if it's as awful as the natural.

Other notable disappointments were:

The LCA EL Septimo Zaya Nueva. Just terrible. I've seen it in B&Ms at a steep discount. It stuck in my mind because they are trying to bill themselves as a luxury brand. Made me completely mistrust the brand.

My New Year's Eve Cuban Cohiba. Like so many Cubans I've tried to smoke, it had construction issues. Overfilled. Just disappointing. And now they want like $60 or $90 or something for one of those? That's laughable.

But tastes differ. It's interesting, Conan, I smoked one of the Stolen Thrones Call to Arms and really liked it. It's on my list to get a fiver. The R58 I smoked a couple of weeks ago was also really good. But it's too big. Being a torpedo helps some, but it's too wide. It messes with the draw, was hard for me to keep the wrapper lit. I thought it had some very excellent flavor though.

I haven't smoked that many cigars, but I did find some unpalatable this year. These are all cBid regular auction smokes I was buying inexpensively just to give some common smokes a go round. Doesn't mean I'll toss the balance of a fiver. I'll revisit sometime, but I found theses all had less than fond memories

Ramon Bueso Olancho just not a pleasant flavor
CAO L'Anniversaire Cameroon I was liking cammies, but not this one
CAO Pilon tried this one twice but neither made the grade
Oliva Serie O One was OK then one was awful. I even had a picture of half the cigar unrolled to see what kind of chit was rolled in there
Oliva Saison First Harvest 2011 maduro it wasn't good
5 Vegas Serie A tried 2 of these and they both had serious construction/burn issues, but wasn't a bad tasting cigar
Partagas Cifuentes Maduro The first I smoked was a pleasant delight, the second was a big let down.

They will all get another chance if I have any left, especially the ones that were hit then miss I would like to know my humidity was always spot on and that's something I will work on. Not fair to ding a smoke if it's too moist. My hygrometers seem to be on the higher side, but they are mostly cheap crap gauges. I have been relying on Boveda and beads to control moisture without much faith in the meter readings.

^^ I really like the melanio maduro!

I didnā€™t care for some of the new Drew Estates. Nica adobe, M81, and H99.

was wanting to try anything Warped, didn't want anything described full strength, and got a fiver here (first bid/win in a very very long time) of Warped Edition One Cloud Hopper No 485.
Sorry to say that if unbanded, I'd have been sure they were just another bundle of nondescript smokes.

Shoulda suspected something was wrong when I won 'em for 17 clams.

Warped has been hit or miss for me too but I did really like the 485. I didnā€™t like the slimmer version The eagles descent got rave reviews and I hated it. It belongs on my ā€œlistā€ Iā€™m gonna try another but Iā€™ve been dodging it

Mombacho Tierra Volcan was disappointing. It was about 5 years old, and I had lost track of it. I remembered the first few that I smoked were very good, so my mouth watered when I found it in one of the trays in the end table humidor. Not quite garbage, but the thought of tossing it crossed my mind a couple times, but I remembered they were pricey.

Macanudo Inspirado White...I knew I shouldn't have but I went through a phase early in 2023 trying to find a good/great cigar for less than $5...this was the worst of the bunch.

You sent me one of those when you were my Secret Santa in 2015. I looked at my notes and I said I enjoyed it. The blend must be one of those "Smoke-'em-sooner-rather-than-later" cigars...unfortunately you don't know that until you smoke one years later and realize they were better fresher.

So that was closer to 10 years old...definitely lost a lot over the years...prolly the most drastic fall-off due to age of any cigar I've experienced...

I read the family shut down their cigar business last June.

Biggest disappointment was the Sobremesa Brulee. I was expecting fireworks and it was just meh. Im letting one age a bit longer so maybe it will redeem itself. Im sure the fault is with my palate.

Worst POS was a CAO Moontrance, that a friend gave me, and that I was obligated to smoke. Garbage. Trash. No flavor, bad consruction, and just no bueno.

On the updside, I discovered expensive cigars...Padrons. Love them, but they are a rare treat. I have some Opus aging till next fall, and on the whole, listening to some of you guys here has expanded my tastes.

^ didnā€™t do much for me either. Iā€™m not in love with the original mi querida. Iā€™ll smoke both and glad I have a couple to revisit but I like the original sobremesa so well and todos I hoped these would be more impressive for me

The Reckoning by Oliva (discontinued)

Kristoff Corojo Limitada

JDN Antano 1970

All these cigars didnt age well. Cant really remember a new cigar that I tried and didn't like--didnt try a lot of new stuff though.

And of course the Serie V...too much anise :)

#13 and #14

Didnt like it that well either. The Black swan is a lot better, imo, at a fraction of the cost.

Prolly why I didnt smoke one in 2023 even though I have 5 left. Lol

White Owl. I didn't buy any but I'm pretty sure that they wouldn't be in my wheel house.

Rocky Patel Sun Grown. Very surprisingly very terrible.
And not that I should complain, because it was a dumb decision, but Makerā€™s Choice vanilla flavored. I purchased several different flavored cigarillos last year just to try them. As it turns out, Iā€™m not a flavored cigarillo type of guy.

Oliva Serie V also tastes like ass with 50yo attic on the retrohale. Always liked the melanio series though.
Oliva Serie O left a bad taste in my mouth.
Room 101 Three Roxxo just wasnā€™t in my wheel house. Ended up tossing it out mid smoke.
Also havenā€™t been a huge fan of any of the southern draw. Rose of Sharon got a lot of good reviews from a lot of people. It wasnā€™t a terrible smoke, but I didnā€™t get the hype.
