We hear all the time to trust Bovedas. Toss the hygrometers and simply believe that the Bovedas are doing what they say they are going to do. I get the mentality of that, absolutely! But I also have learned that I am a little OCD about this hobby!
So the question is do they always, unequivocally, work? Of course there are outliers or bad apples in a bunch but are you gentlemen 100% behind these little packs of salt water? My cigar oasis digital hygrometers have been calibrated and yet Tupper readings are never spot on. I’d love to listen to Palama and ditch em…but…but🥺

If your cigars fluctuate from 63% to 67% over the course of a week and then go back, do you care?

I mean, if you want to purchase lab quality humidificaiton systems that adjust temperature (remember, it's "relative" humidity) and humidity at five second intervals, be my guest, but think about the warehouse in the Dominican Republic or Nicarauga where the cigars are stored after rolling. Think they have lab quality stuff? Doubt it. Hell, they probably just leave it up to the weather down there...

TLDR: You are WAY overthinking this. Chill out and enjoy your cigars.

I know, Stogie…I’m trying buddy. Lol! I’m 57, great wife great kids, relatively healthy… hell right now I’m in St Thomas at the beach typing this and what am I thinking about?? Cigars, humidity, why I can’t light up on my balcony here, etc
I promise you I’m NOT this OCD about anything else in my simple life.
Bear with me Friends…this obsession will pass.

Right??

Jesus....you're in St.Thomas gabbing away about a humidor that's here in the states???

Chill the F out. This hobby of ours...its for relaxation. Its not built for stress and woes. This is how we wind down, not wind up.

So, drink a rum drink...bang the wife...drink a rum drink...light up a cigar and have a rum drink...lather, rinse and repeat. Whatever you think is going on back home isn't important. At all.

PS: you're out of Scotch and your vacuum bag needs to be replaced.

If your Bovedas are as flaccid as you are after a few rounds of rum and banging, you can trust them

You’re right, of course. I am embarrassed.

Look, if you don’t mind stopping by the liquor store to replenish my scotch I will Venmo you the money

The only bummer about Bovedas is you have to let them breathe every 48 hours or so, even if it’s just for 10-15 seconds.
Otherwise they can burst, and leak fluid all over your cigars.
You do have someone checking your storage every few days…………….right?

Never heard this before. Gotta believe if that was true they would have been out of business years ago.

You're going to be fine. As long as you pretreated the Bovedas the way you're supposed to, your golden for a long time.

Nope I took care of the pre-treatment. With the mixture I used I should be good at least 2-3 years, give or take.
I wish I’d known about this a few years back…
