What is the acknowledged BEST cigar out there? Not your favorite but the one that if you were going to spend the big bucks on that’s what you would get?
I’m thinking it’s a Davidoff or a Padron?

"Best" is entirely subjective. And Padron 1926 will beat the life out of any Davidoff.

I’ve smoked some davidoff. Been disappointed every time. I’m sure there must be one good one but I won’t spend to hunt for it

ask 100 people and you are going to get 99 different answers... ok maybe not but close to it...

Gonna depend on the day but Padron 1964 or 1926 or any Opus X ... never been a fan of Davidoffs,

Inexplicably, Z has always been reluctant to accept the CAO Brazilia as the finest cigar ever made…

Rolling my eyes this. Sorry, but IMHO this has to be the dumbest idea for a discussion thread in quite sometime. Who do you suppose is the anointed one who gets to decide what cigar is the best?

What if said person gave a BJ after smoking a Perdomo Reserve Champagne Epicure? Will that be the Best cigar since if you believe the reviews it has a creamy mouthfeel and it may bring back memories of being on one’s knees?

On the other hand, perhaps something on the order of what’s your favorite cigar would be more realistic. Oh wait, there are already plenty of those threads around here.

I guess I worded this wrong so that’s on me. I realize that it’s subjective. So is someone’s favorite car. That doesn’t mean that there are none or two that are considered, by industry standards, “the best”…Mercedes / BMW for example
That was all I was asking but I realize I didn’t really read the room and so never mind. I don’t care enough to care anymore

C'mon, don't give up so easily. Caring is important. It shows you care.

Don’t worry about it. Over the years Anthony has become an even more grumpier FOG (…if that’s even possible 😝 …) so take his comments with a couple grains of salt. 🧂

NO NO NO! I’m done! F**ck you guys *sniff*

Nah. Just kidding. At the end of the day it’s a dumb question.

I do have some other questions though:
1 beads or Boveda?
2 cellophane on or off?
3 Gurkhas any good?
4 where can I get some Cubans? Name and addresses please
5 is smoking one a day gonna kill me?

I do have some other questions though:
1 beads or Boveda? I started with HF beads but then switched over to Bovedas. Now use them in combination (…see Stogie’s post about using both at the same time…)
2 cellophane on or off? If it came with cello, I leave it on. Easier to store and move around when I hafta play Cigar Tetris.
3 Gurkhas any good? Surely you jest?
4 where can I get some Cubans? Name and addresses please Sorry, can’t help you there.
5 is smoking one a day gonna kill me? Hope not but only time will tell.

1 beads or Boveda?
Gotta be beads, nobody’s throwing Bovedas at women to show their boobies

2 cellophane on or off?
Better take it off or it will melt when you smoke your cigar

3 Gurkhas any good?
Anything with a $99.99/cigar MSRP must be phenomenal

4 where can I get some Cubans? Name and addresses please

Depends on what you’re doing when you’re smoking it.

I have never experienced any woman showing me her boobies after I've thrown anything at her...not that I often do that. Guess I'm hanging out with the wrong kinda women...

Wait a minnnit...there was this one time in a darkened place called the Honey Bucket...

Conan there is truth to what you say. Yes, I guess I am a bit grumpier lately than before. Perhaps I’ve allowed certain things to irritate me more than I should.

RE: Cellophane - I remove enough of the cellophane with scissors so that just the tip of the head and foot of the cigar are exposed to the humidity. That will help maintain the cigar while also protecting them from other cigar scents bleeding into it.

Other than flavored cigars, afaik, there’s no real concern with mixing cigars with each other. In the process you described, I’d be more worried about damage to the exposed ends when moving them around…but that’s just me. Anxious

The one thing I will do, as far as separation goes, is to put Connecticut and Cameroon wrapped cigars together in a humidor with 69% Bovedas. The rest of my inventory is at 65%. Iirc, Z posted this storage method a few years back after someone complained about their Connie cigars cracking too much.

It was a tip I picked up from Nick Cutro. I figured it couldn't hurt.

And I don't move my cigars around - at all. They are sorted and segregated and left alone until I grab one to smoke.

Why are your cigars being moved so often that this has become a concern for you?

I used to catch chit here years ago cause I’m pretty anal about cigar organization.
I use excel, and have all my storage containers broken down into “sections”.
No need for me to “rummage” around. I take a quick peak at my excel sheet, decide what I want to smoke, and I know exactly where that particular cigar (or box) is.
If I know ahead of time I want a Le Bijou Pet Rob for instance, I can look at my spreadsheet, and decide if I want a relatively fresh one, or one with a year or two, or a well rested one.
It tells me where they are, what I paid, when they came in, tasting notes, etc.
Its a godsend for someone with borderline OCD…

That is outstanding! Why you would catch flak for that, I can't understand.

(Now I need an excel spread sheet... sheesh...)

Pardon 1926 all the way! I loved it and the 1964! I have had 2 davidoff cigars and thought both were ok at best and expensive as hell! (Not that I paid for them!) liga privada no.9 and LFD double ligero round out my top 3. If I buy a box for $400+ it won’t be davidoff

1- Beads
2- On
3- Rarely
4- Don’t know
5- Depends on how far down your throat you stick it.
