Any one ever get one of "those" letters in the mail about certain foreign cigars that your not supposed to have. Got one today. Not real happy about it. If anyone has received them before, what did you do ? Nothing ? Not sure what to do. Dont think I actually got it in the mail, if you know what I mean.Liar

Your vendor is gonna want a copy......Then they should make it right.Just ignore it.......one of the few things that will go away using this method.

Thats refreshing to read. I've found a few links recently and have been mulling over a small purchase ever since, but have been really hesitant on it for this reason alone.

Do any of you fine gentlemen who have received said letter have any idea if they just send the letter to the address on the box or do they "take a look at you"? Have been interested in ordering some for a while but it would be really bad for me if they actually do more than just go by the label.

This reminds me...

I got a USPS slip saying I have a "letter" waiting for me. But I have to go pick it up, and pay $1.50 to get it. I haven't really thought anything of it, cause i'm not waiting on any packages....but it does have me a tad bit curious.

Just haven't taken the time to go get it...but spose I should do that at some point. Perhaps I won the lottery......(that I don't play).

You don't have to use the sign. We know you really like it when he talks like that. Gives you that "naked midget image" doesn't it? C'mon, you can be honest.......

This is a serious matter. Why make stupid statements and admissions against interest for the world to see. Stop discussing shipping. Stop discussing/alluding to sources and payment methods. Stop making online offers to provide sources. Sheesh!!!

Unless you wish to be looked into further... which I would guess they do for multiple "offenders".

KPP -- the USPS will usually only hold such items for 10 days and then return it to the sender. It is NOT from the Gov't -- they don't use stamps -- they use a postal permit that will cover any postal charge. you have a postage due item, so it came from a 3rd party.

As to "the letter" ... refenst is right. Joke all you want, but this has the potential for serious problems. And for those who's jobs require any kind of licensing subject to an ethics board, I would give serious thought before ordering and importing cc's.

And if you think uncle sam is just turning a blind's eye to an old, outdated law, think again! If you don't think uncle sam is aware of the increased amount of cc's being purchased over the internet and shipped to the US, think again!

Seriously. These days with guys like Drew & Saka, Pepin, Carillo, Padron, Fuente and others you really don't NEED to buy CC's. I've smoked enough of the better Cuban's to know what a singular experience they can be when aging, roll and attention to climate are present. And CC's, more than any other cigars, seem more susceptible to these factors than most.

The thing is this - today we have non-Cuban cigars which absolutely live up to the standards set by these cigars and I have gotten to the point where I am quite satisfied by these "legit" sources. I know this sounds radical but I know I'm not alone.

Do I LOVE a well aged Trinidad? Of course. BUT - I also LOVE a JdN DC Antano Martillo. With no age at all. How about the E.P. Carillo Club 52 Maduro? How about the Tatuaje El Triunfador no. 4? So many cigars which do not require me to break federal laws to buy which give me complete satisfaction. It just doesn't seem worth it anymore. There was a time when I (hypothetically) saw the value of risking bringing a few back from Canada. Regardless of the price. But in today's cigar market it is getting less meaningful to me. If I smoke a La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amore Magnifico I am about as close to cigar bliss as almost any cigar can get me. Will a Cohiba Siglo #4 or whatever from the '90's be better? Maybe so. But I am caring less about that kind of thing lately and enjoying the incredible variety that is more easily available. Sorry.

Just my .02....many will find it worth far less, I'm sure.

I have had about 20 legit CC's. I've never had a Monty but have heard good things. Out of the ones Ive smoked they we're very very good and they were a very nice change of pace. However I would prefer the cigars in my local humidor about 50% of the time over a CC. I believe that most don't live up to the hype but here are some IMHO that FAR exceed the hype. The few hoyo D M I've received from pro have been some of the best cigars I have EVER had since starting cigars a few years back. And as for Cohiba. They are so exreemly unique and phenominlal that they are in a league of there own. It's hard to compare a cigar to another when they taste so different But the 2 Cohibas I've had have changed my view forever.
And I will still continue to trade for all cc's in order to try and find others I like as well as the fact I do like all of them quite a bit.

Actually,,
My view is the exact opposite of yours.
I buy fantastic CCs for $200 or less a box.Sometimes much less.
Cohiba aint all that, very good but there are better CCs for much less but life changing, I think not..

This letter thing...

don't place an order every month...
only every now and then and you'll be fine.

Some of you guys go nutts and order every couple weeks and then paste it all over this place.

It's like buying dope.
If you go to the Crack House everyday chances are you're gonna get busted,,,

Thank you sir, I would have to say this to be wise advice, I have yet to try one, but have been slowly researching and deciding which one will fit my flavor preferences. I may try one or two through a trade or 5er to verify, then make a box purchase every once in awhile. Already seen some boxes, etc in the range you mentioned. If I don't like them, someone here will!
