On this week...three parts , two hours long each...

Very sad and sobering viewing...many things presented that I never knew about.
The most disturbing thing was the U.S. Nazi party ( had a different name) that met in Madison Square Gardens several?
Times in the late 1930's maybe early 40's?
It was a real eye opener, they also had summer camps for kids in NY STATE? OR PENNSYLVANIA? which was really wierd.

Several dozen ambassadors from America, England, Canada, central and south America saved hundreds of thousands of Jewish lives that have gone unreported by most history books...
Millions of dollars were paid to police, Nazi officers, border guards to get polish Jews to France or Spain then put on ships to the afore mentioned countries ..

It is a very good documentary.

I plan to watch it. I'd like to know more about the mindset of our own country in the 1930's and 40's toward Jews.
Turning away that ship!
Probably shapes a lot of my feelings about immigration whether or not I am consciously aware of it at all times

After seeing his interview on CBS mornings 💩 show I have no interest to watch it. He usually does a good job of balance on his docs, his feverish speech patterns and musings left me with all I needed to know.

+1

He probably made those statements because he had this coming out and wanted traction.

I'd suggest reading Mark Levin's "Unfreedom of the Press". In that it details how the NY Times whitewashed it all away for political motives and sided with the Soviets and their atrocities. Shameful.

He actuallly stated that this doc was slated to drop next year, but felt it was necessary to release before the end of this year.

What’s at the end of this year?

Hmmmmmm…..

Yeah like I said, pass.

was looking forward to your take.
Everything has publicity and timing when released, but his work is sometimes the top of the art form.

Frank he is the best in his field there isn’t an argument to be made IMO. As far as this one it’s feeling like an extension the cultural control that is so widespread.

I liked Frederick Wiseman, like a hundred years ago though.

perhaps he sees a comparison to a current view of Americans toward the undesirables du jour?

at the risk of looking dumb(er), where can this be seen?

In Michael Beschloss book The Conquers, it was relayed that FDR was briefed on the development of Jewish extermination camps, and he didn’t comment for over a year, then said he had concerns about them but did nothing. Only once Germany declared war on us did he begin taking significant action.

Well he was a POS POTUS, and eugenics were a pretty widely idealized thing for the wealthy technocrats of the day…
