I have cigars that are in the rotation (loosely calling it rotation, it's actually quite random).
There's ones I buy more often than others which aren't necessarily my favorite.
Like Oliva and AJ Fernandez, you can get them cheap, are pretty good, some of their wares are superb. Fills the niche for the ones you puff all the time and don't care if you have to throw it out.
You have to rotate though because you'll find a good deal, then the vendor will wizen up (coh with mag44 is a good example, used to be able to get them dirt cheep, now you can't).
On top of that, your preferences will change over time (it happens).
So I wouldn't get hard stuck on a particular brand/cigar/flavor, just focus and getting the smokes you know are a good fit for you.
I wouldn't put too much weight in any one else's opinion either just because they appear to have clout... focus more on finding people that interests that are similar to yours and put more weight into their opinions... don't get stuck on trying to match your palate to the "old guard's".
Pretty much the same for me.
I do have cigars in the Top 5 of my all-time favorites that I try to smoke on a semi-regular basis but with the myriad of other favorites and / or cigars recently purchased or gifted, it’s sometimes hard to squeeze them into the rotation.
