So ever since the Celtic Bomber came back from the dead, a few months ago, we have been trying to get together for lunch at the Jewish Deli. We FINALLY did just that, today.
We had a GREAT time, talking about cigars, the CBid forums, and just life, in general.
The food was "off the hook" DEE-lishus ! (The Deli cooks all their own meats)
I had a Hot Pastrami on rye, and he had a Corned Beef on rye.
Well, StePHen, being StePHen . . . Not only did he pick up the tab for lunch, but he also smacked me with 15 "not too shabby" cigars. (see pic)
Oh . . . and it gets better.
After lunch, we stopped at the deli counter to get some meats to go.
I couldn't pass up the Corned Beef that was on Special for $9.99/lb.
While we're waiting for my order, StePHen asks me if I like "brisket".
"
OF COURSE ! Who doesn't like brisket?", I replied.
He says, "
These guys cook their own brisket, and it is to die for. I think I'll pick up a pound to take home."
After we pay for the meats, as we are standing outside saying goodbye, he tells me not to be upset, but there is a pound of brisket in my bag, along with the corned beef.
Un-be-knownst to me, he told the cashier to put in MY bag, when I wasn't looking. What a sneaky bastid !
I told him he was "certifiably crazy". He says, "I'm not crazy . . . I'm interestingly different. Means the same thing . . . One just sounds better."
The man is a gem !
Thanks for a great afternoon, Bomber !

PS
Frankie Tri-Pod . . . You would LOVE this place.
As StePHen said . . . "It's like Jewish Heaven !"
