Valuation is subjective kinda. Which is why no Ghurkas.
You know what a yard gar, mid range, and premium are. If you landed a box of Padron 1926's for $3/per, it's not a yard gar. It's a premium. On the other hand if you bought a box of Diesel's for $200, it's not a premium, it's a yard gar.
The price point is just to give an idea of what we're talking about for folks that are new to the trades. IMO it's what you'd be willing to pay for that particular smoke. I know what I'd buy in the $3 range, the $6 range, and the $10+ range.
Personally the way I pick what to send is to consider the experience of the smoke. Something I'm reserving for a good hour or two isolated from anything else, is going to be the premium I send out. Those are the ones I reserve for sitting by the campfire in my lounger when the campground's gone quiet and wife and boy are in bed. The one I grab when I'm lounging mid day in the hammock at a campsite in the summer is the midrange. The one I have after work/before bed or while on the lawn tractor, or while there's other distractions and won't be mad for tossing it, is the yard gar. I never hit the yard gar price point though, if you consider retail price. I send based on the experience I associate with that cigar.
Look at last year's thread to get an idea of what was sent.
http://www.cigarbid.com/...ar-reviews-with-a-twist That's why these blind reviews are so much fun. Last year I rated the yard gar as the premium, and the premium as utter trash only to learn that the premium was an ultra premium limited release CC. Doing the reviews really makes you focus on the cigar and IMO it expands your appreciation when you're forced to explain the experience. I type out the reviews from my phone or laptop in the garage while I smoke em so it's string of consciousness/ live. There's no going back/rethinking it, just an honest review.
