Here's the pic of my new humi. I need to adjust the shelves and let it season a few more days. The prior owner had it custom made at K&B Cigars in Long Beach years back (no longer in existence). The Moist N Aire was included in the $600 price - a bargain if you ask me since I've been pricing them for about a year......

I decided to transport my cigars in my car trailer when I moved to Texas. I found some sturdy boxes (business file cardboard boxes) and lined them with lawn and leaf bags. I packed the cigars neatly and firmly and left some room at the top for a container of beads. I tied the bags off, closed and taped the lids, and stacked them gently into the trailer. They were only on the trailer about 4 days and they appear to be perfectly fine.

Once this is seasoned I'll fix the shelves and fill with cigars. I'll let the cigars acclimate for a week or so and see how they are. I'm thinking 65% should do well here.

Nice find.

Did you check the inside of the moist-n-aire and clean it? Sometimes the tanks on those can get kind of slimy if they have been in use for a long time, even with distilled water since the tanks are open and spores can be introduced easily through the vents. Also, the cork for the float can eventually rot in some cases. It's not hard to open them up, and being stainless, they clean up very easily.

Yep, it was clean. I don't think it had been used in years. I filled it with water, plugged it in and it seems to be doing its job!

Unpacking is a real biotch........I'll find the shade in a day or two.....I hope..... I don't want to ever move again. This is move 11 with the military and I'm growing weary....the thrill is gone.

I filled it today....it's really full. In fact, I have doubled up on the shelves and I still have cigars in tubs. I'll post another pic in a day or so....

I am envious of you guys that have these large humis. I have thrown around the idea of getting one, but it would probably take up too much space in my apartment. Yours looks great though!

I'm with you here. The only place that my wife would allow me to place one would be in the basement. Gets a bit to cold down there in the winter for a humidor.

^^^Just tell her your getting a cabinet humidor and you would appreciate her help with where to put it otherwise you'll do it yourself. And don't suggest the basement dear because that would not be good for the cigars, afterall I did spend good money on them.

I believe the old saying fits here: "It's easier to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission".
