No more political standoffs. Parties of any kind eventually get out of control. Elect people with no affiliation on the merits of their own beliefs. Cmon , this is the age of Mass Instantaneous Communications, Hell we don't even need a polling place anymore !

Term limits will change things dramatically.
More than that, multiple parties and coalitions will keep any one party from controling everything or anything.

I think we don't need term limits, if we have well-informed and open minded voters at the voting booths.

A big 'If' I admit.

We NEED term limits. I won't name names but it is obvious the electorate is not well-informed when complete idjits maintain their seats for multiple decades. We need statesmen not politicians. If we can change the view that Congress is a service to your country and not a career, we may start to get somewhere. It will never happen but one can dream.

We will never have the informed electorate we all yearn for. It just isn't possible without curtailing way too many individual's right to vote. Besides, how would we fairly determined what "informed" fairly means? A certain minimum IQ or svhool grade level accomlpished? A reading test? How about a civics test?

We started out only allowing white, male landowners to vote. For sound reasons, this has been expanded to include non-whites, non-land owners and woman. How can one certain we should go backwards in our self-defined "democratic" society?
