Last year, Cal managed to pull out a victory in the USC game ... this year, Cal is better than they were last year ... can they do it again ??

Man....this should be a good game. I will be interested to see who wins for sure! Cal has the chance to upset USC for sure. But I don't know....USC seems to be the real deal, my guess would be a close score, USC wins by a field goal.

dave, i don't actually think USC is the real deal. they should have lost VT. they should have lost to stanford. i don't mean on paper; i mean they played poorly against mediocre teams and nearly lost. Cal looks good. they look better than VT and stanford. i think Cal could blow them out big. i also think ou better be ready for a better UT team or GA will end up at the top of the polls next week. this is a very big weekend for college football. lots o' ash will be made by all.

I think you're right Lofty. If USC's performance against Stanford and VT is any indication Cal will prevail. I don't know about a "blowout" but 10 -14 pts wouldn't surprise me. Go Golden Bears...my Huskies sure as hell aren't giving me anything to crow about. I might even root for Stanford this weekend!

With the NCAA srewing USC out of having Mike Williams,I think CAL has a good chance of repeating. X

Didn't Mike Williams declare himself eligible for the NFL draft and ineligible for NCAA play? Wouldn't that make Mike the screwer and the screwie?

Mike Williams hired himself a agent...that step takes you out of the NCAA whether you get drafted or not, go in without a agent, and you at least have a shot of coming back if not drafted.

With every win, regardless of how pretty....USC get more confidence. Don't get me wrong, I certainly think Cal can win this game! I think it will be close enough to go either way, with the ball bouncing USC's way.

That being said....I'm rooting for Cal to win though. Why? I don't know....just like what Tedford has done with that program in such a short time. Sorry we lost him from Oregon...him and Koetter.....hasn't been the same!

You might need to wear that phrase out before Saturday because you might not be able to use it anymore after that!

One other part of the problem was that he had accepted money (officially, it was an "advance" from the agent he hired) and although he gave it back in his efforts to regain elligibility, it was still counted as a factor against him. I heard Pete Carroll interviewed about this and he was asked if he felt Willliams had gotten a bum deal ... Pete said no, Williams knew what he was doing going in and that he and everone involved pretty much knew that it would shake out the way it did, but that the effort was made on the long-shot hope that the eligibility folks would see things in a more favorable light ...
