I'm very distraught by how supposed brothers of the leaf are treating each other on this board.

If some of these people are supposed to be "brothers"...well then who the hell needs enemies?

People have taken the initiative to jump all over godfather's butt without knowing the whole story. And even if they did know everything about the whole case, they still should've kept their mouths shut about it and simply refused to trade with him INSTEAD of writing him rude and threatening emails.

And now me, who's been trying to maintain a little bit of decency in this case by asking people to stop flaming him, has been receiving threats from a member of this board, and I don't like it at all.

This isn't how grown men should behave. And if this situation doesn't calm down, peace isn't made, and apologies on both sides aren't made, then I'm taking the road of past brothers like emgjet and I'm leaving these boards.

This forum is supposed to be about supposed "brother" cigar smokers sharing their knowledge and meeting one another...not acting like a bunch of spoiled brats pointing fingers and name-calling.

I agree. What happened to giving a person the benefit of the doubt? I have been on the bad end of a trade once, and I settled it PRIVATELY. This board is not for flaming or being rude. The purpose of this board is to develop comraderie among people who smoke cigars. Please keep your negative comments about others on the board to yourself.

This is the "Wrong Board" to post something like this!

This topic should be posted under MISC.

I, for one, want to know when there are problem traders, especially if traded smokes end up on auction sites. True BOTL keep their word and are in it for the leaf and not the green, if you get my drift. If we have members who are poor traders or who seek to personally profit from trades, then they do not need to be in this community or on this board. And, if they do, they should be flamed.

That is my 2 cents.

Well, I guess not everything ...

The bottom line, is the more you trade, the greater the chance you will encounter an unpleasant trade experience.

Combined, we've had 100's of successful trades here at CB, with only a few which didn't go how we would have hoped.

I won't trade with anyone, unless I hear enough good trader comments on them to take the risk, and would never do a trade with someone new to the boards.

I'd recommend starting with small trades until you've built a relationship with a few good traders over time. If you feel you have been ripped off, try to settle the matter by email.

Often, perceived rip-offs are only misunderstandings.

If that doesn't work, you might try consulting by email with some of the more experienced traders who can help resolve the matter.

And above all ... if you 'FOR ANY REASON, AT ANY TIME' you feel that you cannot old up your end of a trade or box pass, don't even get involved. If you commit to a trade or box pass ... follow through with it, no matter what it takes. There is no excuse. Your reputation is on the line, and once that is tainted ... you are basically finished.

It will be very hard for anyone to ever trust you again ...
