Premium Box Pass Anyone ???

Looking for aprox 12 participants for a Premium Box Pass on this Board. Box would start with 20 cigars - 10 ISOMs and 10 Top Shelf "Domestics".

Like has to be replaced with like, example - ISOM for comparable ISOM, Domestics - One $10 stick for One $10 stick (not 5 @ $2)... Box can't sit more then 2 days at a location - all mailing must be Insured with Tracking Number.

Just testing the waters for now --- anybody interested?

Oh, I'd be interested. Maybe split the ISOM and Domestic into two passes. Never had an ISOM and don't have connections for one, so part of the choices would be limited for someone like me. BUT, it would be loads of fun.

What sets the value on a box pass cigar? CI prices? Retail prices? CBid prices vary quite a bit but have an average.

The Normal Retail price would be the guide. We would all have to rely a bit on the honor system here - but as the average price of the Domestic "Premiums" being considered here is a minimum of aprox $9-$10 each and up - we all know the type of cigars that fall into this category.

Taking a 1926 PAM Torpedo and replacing it with an AF Double Chateau (Green Label) would not be a fair trade - this in no way knocks the AF stick which is a fine smoke - but it does violate the spirit of the Pass.

Nor would taking the Padron Anniversario and replacing it with 5 Pirate's Gold sticks be allowed. - This is also a "No-Go".

The pass is like for like. PAM for a Diamond Crown - ok....Opus X for a Greycliff...ok, Cohiba Esplendido ISOM for an Upmann Sir Winston ISOM, ok.. and so on.

All Takes and Puts would be published on the forum at each stop of the box pass. I would set out the initial make-up of the Pass and then the person who gets it next would list each cigar he takes and what he puts in its place. He/she would then send it to the next person on the list Insured and with the Tracking Number published.

The rest of the group involved I'm sure will chime in if there is an "Inadvertent Violation" and we would rely on the honesty of the fellow Pass member to make up the shortfall.

Again, we are merely testing the waters here - this may not work --- but if it does - it could be a really good adventure as long as everyone is pretty close on their definition of "Premiums" --- and doesn't confuse the term with their "favorite" smokes ---they may or may not be the same thing. We are all looking to be fair here and not score the bargain of the century..

Judging from the initial reaction and emails received - I think the suggestion to split this into ISOM and Non-ISOM may be the best way to give this an initial try. The below is for the Non-ISOM Pass - but the sticks in the other PASS would follow the same principles.

I will try and assemble the Opening sticks and scout out the locals here to get an accurate Average Price per stick and will publish it. That way, people will know what types of smokes are in store for those who participate and what the target replacement stick price would be.

I know for certain the Pass will initially include Opus X (several types), Diamond Crown Naturals and Maduro, Gurkha Master Selects, CAO Cammie (Aluminum Tubes), Padron Anniversario 1964 Maddies (several types), Don Carlos No. 2, Ashton Natural and Maduro and so on....

After that is published - we'll see the interest out there, and if we can get a dozen or so people in this - off we go !!

Doc,
Two questions:
1. Any limit on quantity that can be exchanged at each pass? IE. Anywhere from one up to the entire qty each pass?
2. I assume we are trying to maintain a diversity so taking an Opus, Graycliff and CAO and replacing with three of the same PAM is discouraged?

In reverse order - YES - we are trying to maintain diversity...

There will be a limit on 1 cigar of a type -for example, if the Pass starts with 3 PAM Torpedo Serie 1964, you are allowed only 1 of those sticks. If there are 2 Opus X Dbl Corona, You may only have 1.

The Non -ISOM PASS will likely start with 2 dozen total cigars -

On the ISOM Box Pass - there will be 2 dozen unique cigars -

But 1st - we need about a dozen members to make this work - we're not there yet....

I also would like to be in on the domestic pass only for now. I'm working on the ISOMs and maybe in the future I would be able to participate in that one also.
Thx.

Doc,

I have a "Few Dog Rockets" that I would be willing to share with the other brothers and sisters of the leaf.

Background: I know I have an APO address this may not be a good thing for the box pass because it takes about 5 to 7 days for a box to arrive here. I have not had any problems in the past but there is always a potential.

LMK,

Regards,

Put me in for the domestic pass. I'll be glad to participate. It sounds like it could work very well. Will there be an updated inventory, posted on site or a new one made on each pass? Just let me know when you want the snail location

Good News --- I believe there is enough interest from PROVEN members of this Board to make this Premium Box Pass happen.

I am away all week and plan on returning back in time for the PA Herf this Saturday --- I will also then make up the initial inventory list for the Box Pass ----this First Round will be MAINLY "Domestics" - but there are enough ISOM smokers out there - so there will also be an ISOM assortment.

Contents list will be published by Sunday...

Roman,

Got your email.

I'm in for either the "Non-ISOM" box pass
or the "Non-ISOM / ISOM" box pass.

My ISOM connection went back to Greece &
won't be back for a couple months.

Also sending an email!

Welcome to Octowings - another key member of the Brotherhood and a proven QUALITY Trading partner.

I know this man knows his way around the Premium smokes - we are all well served by having James join the Pass.

Wow! This box pass includes (almost) everyone that is considered by most as premire traders (That Includes You Doc). Can't wait for this to get off the ground. It just so happens that I just got an order in with some premium sticks!

docrks,

If not to late, It would be honor to join the Domestic pass. My ISOM collection is very small, but I can hold my own with domestic premiums.

If you already have to many players, I would understand.

Cheers,

PT ;-)

One Box - filled with ISOMs and Domestics - but smaller then both boxes would have been separately -- will have more "Domestics" then ISOMs because of what the participants have been saying to date....

Hope the Park we be Herfin in tomorrow doesn't get washed away.......

I also have a "special" proposal for how to best handle your APO requirements of the box pass so to minimize the odds of it getting "lost" in transit. Will contact you by email.
