Just finished open enrollment. Costs went up again. $186 more per paycheck for a $15k deductible plan. I hate this so much.

Looks like the tobacco free "discount" increased so it's just $86 more per check. Still crazy expensive.

Tobacco free discount is $100 per installment???
More than half the premium for smokers???
Do they just take your word for it too? I mean obviously you use tobacco..I would think they would do a carbon monoxide level test. That's what they do before major surgery to make sure u weren't smoking for weeks before.

I have what is said to be the best health plan, blue cross/blue shield but its the strangest policy. It's like a collective workplace policy. Everybody at my company pays either the same single rate regardless of their age, tobacco use, health and underlying conditions, etc. or the same family rate if they're married regardless if they have kids or how many. And if someone at the company gets really hurt or sick and usage goes above the previous year, everyone's premium goes up. If usage falls, premium goes down.

The VA is run by the government. It's entirely inefficient, idiotic, and way behind current medicine. The doctors are overworked and underpaid. I don't think many of them stick around for very long. Not any good ones.

A lot of chity docs and docs about ready to retire but already should have = VA care in Orlando.

Is your employer self insured?
If not, your employer's plan is simply being "rated" annually.

No bears where you and Robert are from? Around here in western mass if we put out bird feed the bears and squirrels take it. The squirrels can be outsmarted but the bears just smash the feeders. One of our neighbors had a bird's nest on one of the beams of their back deck two stories up. A bear skipped the stairs and climbed the outside beams to get the bird eggs.

I've only seen 3 bears in all of my travels--and I used to hike a lot.

Saw one in the George Washington National Forest, at the base of Shenandoah Mountain, near the Virginia / West Virginia border.

Second one I saw on Backbone Mountain, in far western Maryland.

Also saw one at Big South Fork National River, near Oneida, Tennessee.

I've lived here for two years and haven't seen one yet, even in the woods. I live in a remote area, relatively close to the Monongahela National Forest. They're here though. A lot of guys hunt for them, successfully.

Tobacco free discount is now $300/paycheck. It's half of the employer contributions to the premiums.

Annual blood and piss test. Blood test for not just nicotine but also cotinine, a metabolite of nicotine that sticks around for a few weeks. They have never asked me if im a smoker. I've never lied about it. But as long as my blood and piss are clean I don't get fined.

I've never done a CO test on a preop. Piss test yes.

Gentelmen!

Youngest daughter and husband are having us over for steaks tonight but the grandkids will not be there as one has to work and the other is traveling. Prolly be Christmas before we see them all.

Saturday is high school reunion. Last time I went to one I was very disappointed to see that the girl I lusted over back then had turned into a porker. "Everybody's so different, I haven't changed."

Good Friday Morning to All! It's 66° on the way to 76° today.

Soon, fingers crossed, I will be driving down to Statesboro, GA to pick up up a walk behind yard leaf blower. I am waiting on a replacement tire after hitting a chuck of metal yesterday that cut into the sidewall. Brick wall Still, yesterday was a fantastic day, we got to visit with a grandaughter we have not seen in about 14 years, oh happy day!

After the dog walk, wife and I sucked it up and went over to her mom’s house for no apparent reason.

90 minutes worth of visiting. Left overs for lunch, settling into the recliner to watch some tv.

Have two cigar related get togethers tomorrow, so skipping the weekly Smokes & Bones this afternoon.

A nice sunny Saturday here in north central MA. Gonna be low to mid 40's. I made some nice shelves from scrap cuts at work. Solid oak with a clear finish. About 2 ft long, 3/4" thick and ripped it down to about 8 in deep. I'll hang them up in my son's room once he decides where he want's them.

Wanna put on some snow shoes on his car so I ordered some snow tires for him. Maybe a bit premature but I'd rather get them now before the rush. Besides it was $25 off per tire so saved a little money. They should be delivered this coming Monday. We'll just toss them in the garage and he can set up an appointment to get them mounted and balanced when it's convenient for him.

It's a make it up as you go domestic day. Nothing is set in stone other than groceries, laundry, and some standard weekly house cleaning.

Might change the shower curtain for a different color (gotta set goals, and my weekend goals are rather simple to achieve). I have a new green grass colored one that I'd like to use to replace the current beige and maroon one. Go for a light green color motif in the bathroom.

Badgers vs Northwest football game is on at 3:30. Maybe watch that along with a cat nap.

It was out like 45day s ago! Way before Halloween at Walmart.
I always know when they are well stocked there when I look up and see they have a couple hundred bicycles stored on hooks on the inside of the 20+ foot tall indoor-garden center.
So, is it also too early for me to start wishing people Merry Christmas? LOL.

Carried a sack of corn to the hunting fort. Checked trail cam--some big bucks in the neighborhood.

Replaced starter solenoid on the 2003 Cub Cadet, was lucky to find an OEM part for a 20 yr old riding mower. Going to use that one to haul around the cart this fall/winter, save the hours on the 2023.
