Off to the pool.
Hoping tile and supplies for bathroom arrive today, but doubt it. Going on no bathroom fo almost 3 weeks now...
Other than that, I'll probably lay about the rest of the day!

The protein bats were in my trick or treat basket.

Threw those out and had protein bars instead.

Ditto. I bought about 9 lbs of it. Variety packs of stuff. New neighborhood for me so I didn't know the amount of Halloween kid traffic would come around. The house is set back a bit from the road and sidewalk so kids probably ain't gonna walk down driveway and knock on the door (understandable) even though its a safe residential area. It was kinda chilly (chance of frost tonight) so I wasn't gonna sit at the end of the driveway to hand it out. Maybe I should get a small fire pit thingy that I can drag around for things like this (shrug). Could have cooked some hot dogs and smores or sumptin while sitting there. Hindsight is 20/20.

Instead I put a lawn chair on the sidewalk and a large bowl of candy with a note "Take what you want but don't be greedy." I still have about half of it left. As long as the kids had a good time, that is all that matters.

Mental note: buy a portable fire pit thingy. It has multiple uses and I can get free scrap oak hardwood from work to feed it.

In Cali our neighborhood would have lots of driving traffic. We would dress in costumes and sit outside and hand out hundreds of pieces of candy. Propane heaters going and everything! In Tampa I would even hand out Hemingway Short Story cigars to dads (if their wife would let them accept!)

I knew our neighborhood here was an older crowd so we didn’t go nuts or anything but I still hoped for more than maybe the 20 kids we had.

Done. 40 minutes of walk. The Guest Grey has the sweetest heart. He’s also the worst walking greyhound I’ve ever worked with. His mom never used any lead discipline or management. She only outweighs her dog by about 15 pounds. Guess that explains it.

That dog outpoos yearling bull calves. Cue drafter saying I could go for a yearling bull calf right about now.

Paid for my vehicle registrations online and chose pickup in office. About an hour later, got an e-mail they were ready for pickup... the lady in the tax collector's office was sweet as sugar and I showed my ID and she handed me my paperwork and I walked out. Cost me a grand total of $217.90 to register 2 vehicles for TWO YEARS.

Contrast that with CA. Pay online... no option to do anything but wait for it to arrive in the mail. If you do go to DMV and have no appointment, you WILL be there all day... and everyone in the place is a douche with a bad attitude. No option to register for 2 years and most people probably couldn't afford it since my last bill just for the truck for 1 year was $650.

Livin' the dream, baby... I'm just livin' the dream. Herfing

It was simple and cheap here in Texas as well. California DMV was just misery.

Indiana bmv has really improved in the last 5 years or so. Used to be a hassle now it's just a chore.

And it's fairly cheap if I didn't have a custom specialty plate

Had to run back to the store for pineapple juice. Went to the one that's by the car wash so I could get the snow and ice blasted off.

Checked their meat cooler. Had top round.

Now it's 6lbs of meat marinating and a $80 batch of jerky.

Despite some of his on and off court antics, I always liked him. Helluva coach that did things the right way, unlike that cheater Dale Brown. “A Season on the Brink” by John Feinstein is a great read and insight on Coach Knight.

Waiting as a walk in for blood testing because I went to the wrong location.

Wife has pre-colonoscopy prep today and tonight. Not fun.

No plans today other than to swim some laps after it warms up a bit more, as it is only 51F right now. They already started heating the pool for the Fall/Winter season. Temp and breezes make getting out of the water a miserable experience, but what else am I going to do but deal with it!

Kids and future son-in-law are definitely coming home for Thanksgiving, although my son will probably leave first thing Friday morning to get back to school. Final exams start the next week and he must do well. Can't wait to see them.

Bathroom remodel is being held up by the tile not arriving yet, even though it was ordered over a week ago. Should be here any day.

Nothing else planned today, but relax and hang out with my wife.

A nice 54 going to 83 today. Walk completed. I always walk in shorts even when the winter temps dip into the 30s but I do ware a jacket. Legs never seem to get cold when you are walking fast. Hands get cold since they aren't doing any work.

Usually same for me. My legs don't really get cold. If my core is warm, I'm good... when it's really cold my hands and ears will get cold. I'll wear a beanie and gloves.

The amount of hours it takes to keep this place up is ridiculous.

Our place is around 4 acres of flat land (plus 40 acres of woods). I'd say the lawn is at least 3 to 3 1/2 football fields long and maybe 80 yards wide, at it's widest point.

If my wife doesn't help me (we have two riding mowers) it takes 2 1/2 to 3 hrs to mow with a Cub Cadet XT1, (50 inch mowing deck), then 1 hr and 15 min of trim work with a self propelled push mower, THEN at least 5 hrs per week weedeating. I use a Stihl FS 111 brush cutter / trimmer for that.

There is so much weedeating to do that I've had to break it up into numerous sections that I try to get to every other week, otherwise it would take 10+ hrs per week.

I have a list: house + buildings, creek 1, creek 2, ditch + fruit trees, gardens, walnut trees, the bank, gas well + burn pile area...and a few others.

My hands take a beating using that weedeater. Haven't used the weedeater in a couple weeks and they're just now starting to feel better.

I'm 41 and pretty strong, but realize that taking care of that much wont be feasible 10 or 15 yrs from now. May let the eastern 1/3 of the yard go to hay when I age out.

It looks like a state park around here when it's all done. Sure is a lot of work though...

Same here, 4 acres but routinely mow half. I call it 4 yards. Got the yard around the house that I try to keep trimmed and treat it if the weeds get too bad but mostly if it's green I'm happy. Then I got the empty lot. I mow that every time because it grows so fast, always wet down there. Then I have the swamp corner I can only mow when it's dry enough. Then the woods I do maybe monthly. Not much grows under the thick canopy of oaks and walnuts.

I also have an xt1 50 fab

The ditch has to be mowed with a trimmer. Just did that today. Very steep and the water level is about 6ft under the road level. Takes a tank and a half of 2 stroke.

If I do all of it in a day it's a good 4-5 hours of work. Even longer when there's sticks to pick up. In the spring and after storms I hitch a wagon on and use a grabbing stick to pick up sticks and toss em in the wagon as I'm mowing. Only have to get up for the big stuff.

Soft and chewy, sweet and sticky with just enough heat to leave my lips tingling.

Wife brought home some cabinets she wanted in the boys bathroom. Took care of that. But she still won't pick out cabinets and countertops for kitchen remodel.

Did a few things today. Not much. Mostly sat on the couch playing videogames.
